Back to the safety aspect here. Don’t forget PPE! (Personal protective gear). Yesterday morning I was working on the tractor, drilling out a broken grease fitting that an easy out wouldn’t remove. Any way, I normally wear glasses at least, but didn’t have them on at the time. The drill bit shattered and sent a 1” piece of it right at my eye. It was hot enough that it sizzled and stuck, I had to pluck it off. It hit, luckily, flat vs pointed as it had enough force it would have punctured my eye. It’s bad enough as it burned the upper and lower lid but also burned the white of the eyeball. So I’m wearing an eye patch for a few days. Could have been worse, but better yet, could have been prevented with a little common sense. I don’t think I will drill without eye protection ever again....

I've learned the hard way about the importance of wearing safety glasses. I keep about a dozen pair scattered around the place. I always have ear plugs on hand too. I won't even start the chainsaw without ear plugs and safety glasses. I'm glad that it wasn't worse than it was. You lucked out.
