One of the treasures I found this weekend. It's a shoe shine brush. The little hook at the top is for opening the polish. It's an antique, but I will be using it- for its intended purpose, because I still shine my shoes.

I have a shoeshine brush made some around 1930. At first, I thought it might be ivory but it's Ivory Pyralin, AKA Cellulose. I had a peanut butter and fig preserve sandwich last week... Almost OD'd from the sugar rush but it was tasty!
My dad had 2 fig bushes, and he made lots of fig jam.
It is good.
I haven't had any since Mom and Dad went to nursing home 7 years ago, now they are both in heaven.
The Young folks that bought their house , cut down the figs....shame.

PB sammichs are good. A little strawberry or cherry jelly just makes it better.

Place we had lunch today , first time ...awesome food.
I had a pork tenderloin sammich with sharp cheddar cheese some kind of sauce , bacon...and yes diced homemade pear preserves spread on it.
