I had a student whose parents obliged his interest in reptiles. He had a small caiman that he asked to bring to school to visit. I thought they were illegal, but he had one. It came to visit one day, and got out. It was kind of scary to think of students potentially being bitten by those sharp teeth. Student eventually got his caiman back in the cage, but it created quite a disturbance. I'd bet every student went home and talked about the caiman that day.I had to google it to know the difference between the two... Then there was the 3rd critter, a wallaroo. I'd heard the first two names, but not this last one. I guess it's sort of like the difference between a crocodile, an alligator and a caiman. To someone who hasn't seen each of them they appear to be the same critter.
