Church of the Nativity, Bethlehem This photo was taken a few days before Christmas (long ago). I was booked to return for the Christmas Eve service... until jihadi's flew hang gliders off the Golan Heights and started a small lockdown, for a month.
A couple shirts I made several years ago. The first was for the then wife, the second was for me.
@INresponse There is t-shirt I wish hadn't been stolen. On the back was Daffy Duck standing in front of the wb bullseye. The caption read "US Navy, Official Sponsor of the QaDaffy Duck Shoot" It was for guys in the mediterranean when Qaddafi got bombed, which happened twice. On one of the occasions I remember sitting at a missile console in CIC. It was turned off, we were pretending to be an electronic hole in the ocean but got buzzed by a couple of Qaddafi's Migs. That'll wake you up! I think it freaked out the Mig pilots too, we could hear their comms. They clearly didn't expect to run over a destroyer.
I saw this at a bbq restaurant in Birmingham last spring, thought it was funny. Not sure if I ever posted it but meant to.

I can relate.
We were point defense and actively searched for targets.
As soon as the attacking air craft detected CW illumination they aborted and pulled away.
We were buzzed once and it was an embarrassing event.

A friend was in Iraq during the Gulf War. He sent me a Hard Rock Hotel Baghdad Tshirt. It had Closed For Business on an angle across the logo. I still have it somewhere. Thankful for everyones service but the "souvenirs" were neat. He also sent me a variety of Iraq money I still have.
I intend to make some humorous Tshirts for a variety of purposes and nostalgia.
I had one from Skinny Dicks Half Way In. It's in Alaska.

Ha! I didn’t think I had a photo of this guitar until this morning. Since my early teens I’ve owned martin guitars. Great guitars, sort of the “gold standard” when it came to high end guitars. Back then their prices started at $1K.
1980 the only job I could get was 600 miles away. Traveling to and from, involved hitch hiking and other questionable travel methods. I did not want to travel with a martin guitar, to many possible mishaps, risk of damage or loss was high.
I called up friends who owned guitar shops, let them know what I was looking for, something in the $400-500 price range. Of course nothing in that range was going to sound like a Martin but I still wanted the best sound quality I could find.
A friend (who married the same woman 3 times) found what I was looking for a few months later. It was a Washburn, 50’s vintage. It had good sound, good enough to play festivals and the bass was very clean.
The kicker was the inlay. It had the most beautiful custom inlay work I’d seen up until that point. It wasn’t done by Washburn but was done by a real artist at a later time. I bought the guitar, good sound and beautiful, plus I upgraded the tuners, bridge and nut. After my friend threw in a good hardshell case it was a $700 guitar disguised as a $400 guitar. It met my requirements plus it wouldn’t break the bank if I were robbed, or were lost by Amtrak or greyhound.
I regret selling it now but it went to a good home, a guy I was stationed with in CA. I knew if I sold it to anyone he was the perfect person. He had real talent, a great voice but was stuck playing $100 Yamaha's. After playing it for months and he wanted my Washburn badly.
I wish this photo were better… and I’d taken a photo of the back which had even more abalone inlay. You can see inlay around the sound hole and top, as well as the neck.

I had the hat. Unfortunately they closed years ago.
Their web site says they are closed for the winter. Summer opening in mid April.

I found a book from the 70s:
I think the people who designed Mom's bathroom followed the style. Here's a snapshot of the laundry room idea:
No access to shutoffs or power to turn stuff off... LOL.
Also, my youngest two kitties escaped from the front room while I was cleaning and refilling their water. The other cats get watered from a dish tub because they drink so much. (That brown crud on the counter does not want to come off-- something my brother spilled).
The one to the left is the male, Namir. One on the right is his sister, Temjin.
Then there is Aminatu, my fluffy calico sleeping on my computer:

Of the many places I’ve been in my life this is one of the few that I would like to see again, Yosemite. I also like Ansel Adams photos. He could see the beauty of Yosemite went beyond color.
Another engineer and I had a weekend off and went to Yosemite. He grew up in Austria, learned to drive in the Alps. We were in a rented toyota tercel. It was better than any amusement park thrill ride I’ve ever been on.
Tiny, twisting mountain roads driven by an expert! Parts were a white knuckle ride of a life time. I’ll never forget that drive.

That is one area of Cali thats on my bucket list.
Adam's is my favorite photographer of all time. At one time I was tryin to start a photography business, right about the time digital cameras got decent and affordable. Anyway I read up on Adams quite a bit to try and pick up ideas on detail and composition. That would be one tough act to follow

I don't think my wife will let me take her Challenger to get pizza anymore....
My mom has a challenger - she won't even let me put a mint in my mouth in the thing!

I have a Challenger, too. The only one in our little town that I know of. My favorite cousin likes to take a ride in it (a 72 yr old amish lady)

Lets have a Dog Day! This is the pup Sam, he's learned to beg. He lays his head in my hand or chair and looks up with sad puppy dog eyes... Makes me laugh every time he does it. If he wants outside or food this is the face I get.
