It's near Brookwood AL. We were just kids having fun! We learned the hard way to walk into the canyon while it was still day light. Had to carry out a friend with a broken leg one night. There after we only went in during the day. If it got dark we stayed...

There is a hollar like that were I threw a big party as a kid. I had the path memorized in the dark and put up strings as a guide to the party grounds through the brambles and thorns the day ahead if the party. I escorted most people in and out that night.

Five police departments with dogs raided the party. Due to the thick multiflora rose and Japanese barberry the police didn't catch anyone except me and my GF when they caught us for trespassing on land owned by the coal company.

Oh to be young and stupid again.

This set was given to my parents for me the year I was born.
They've carried it with them for over 5 decades, from Germany to Massachusetts to California to Texas and finally to Washington.

Now, they will clean it up and present it to my grandson.

One of the few heirlooms they held on to through all the military moves.

Found these photos of my old red mahogany roll top desk… I’d been transferred from LA to WV, 2500miles pulling a uhaul trailer. I got there on a Wednesday and had to be ready to work by Monday.

After 3 years in LA I wanted out in country, not in another city. This greatly decreased the number of available rental properties. I found all the things I required in a 3bdrm apartment out on a rural road. It was old, but clean and well maintained, felt comfortable.

But it had this one small bedroom… Imagine if you will a room, the walls covered with different pieces of scrap wallpaper left over from the 70’s. The ugliest patterns imaginable… it was awful! I didn’t know whether to laugh or throw up. So I made it my office! I only spent an hour in there each week for paper work.

Anyway I loved this mahogany desk, from the 1930's. It was in bad shape and I didn’t have the skill or a shop to restore it. Eventually traded it to a guy who could bring it back.

I covered most of the walls with catscan manuals and parts.

I had an old barrel racing horse years ago. He loved to slide through big mud puddles. He was the fastest horse I've ever been on...

If I checked him or even acted like I wanted him to slow coming up on a big sand bed or puddle down his big butt would come. Hit the ground hard. He'd sit with his front legs locked and slide. First time he did it I thought he'd broken my back! It hurt!

There after I had to be careful where I checked him! He was also the goofiest horse I've ever been around. He was always doing something goofy, make me laugh trying to get my attention.

The goat sliding is so funny! The slide reminds me of a seal named Vanessa at the zoo where I worked. She would get a running start (as much as a seal can run) and then slide at me trying to ram my legs to bowl me over. No matter where I moved, she would try it because she found it incredibly fun. Some animals are mischievous.

Yesterday we rescued two abandoned puppies (currently trying to find homes for them or find owners if they are lost). Little hounds that remind me of the ones from Where the Red Fern Grows.

My daughter got bowled by a dolphin she was training a few years ago. She was working on hand signals to train the dolphin to beach itself on the boat deck (they do this for transport or medical care). Well, the dolphin had a great time with that! She said it came flying out of the water with a big grin on its face and just nailed her. When you get nailed by an airborne dolphin you know it (she said hers weighed 550 lbs!) My daughter learned very quickly: signal dolphin ... wait for it to leap out of the water ... MOVE! In her new job she swims with wild ones all the time, but no longer trains them.

I wonder what breed these dogs are. They have some characteristics of Rhodesian Ridgebacks: big feet (all puppies do), the ears!, the nose. When they are sitting and you can see their chests, the chest looks very ridgeback like. The tails are long like a ridgeback, but if my memory is correct, their tails are not darker. I don't see ridges on these two, but that does not mean they are not ridgebacks. They could be ridgeless ridgebacks. I've been told that happens about once in 200 dogs. There is a ridgeless ridgeback named Sergio who I see regularly at one of the dog parks. Ridgebacks look you in the eyes, like they are looking deep into your soul.
Now it is possible that these dogs could be Red Bone Coon Hounds as well, but hearing them is a better clue for that.

One of my dad's coworker's had a ridgeback. Beautiful dog. These are hounds of some sort. Probably the red bone coon hounds. I'll have to get my brother to hold them still enough for me to get better pics. Beautiful little critters. I hope we can find them a good home. They need someone who will take good care of them.

My computer back in its spot with protective basket to keep cat pee and sneezes out of the fans. I will have to move it out from the wall a bit. There is a basket taped on top that has holes on the back and side where cats can't spray.

Boy, if I had to go to that extreme to protect things from cats peeing on them, those cats would not ever be allowed inside. Even with a basket with holes in it on top, that's not much ventilation for a computer. Excess heat in a computer rarely causes instantaneous failure. Rather, the lifespan of the computer is greatly reduced. Check your temps and make sure it's not overheating under all that plastic wrap.
