Duster or demon?
Nope - we always had "a boot in the britches" to encourage us to be good when I was growing up.Anyone else having to deal with the silly "Elf on a Shelf" stuff with the grandkids?View attachment 100429
The wind is crazy there! In case you didn't hear it on the news, South Dakota and other states have been having quite a blizzard. Deadwood, SD received 48 inches of snow. Interstates have been closed, and some people still want to drive. The storm has lasted 4 days. Schools have been closed, which I only experienced once as a child. This photo, is of a man riding a horse, because the snow is too deep to drive. When you refuse to stay home and get stuck on a highway in a vehicle, you present a danger to yourself and others, and you also prevent snowplows from clearing the roads. In South Dakota, the wind blows a lot! Someone said that they have been having wind gusts up to 60 mph. People will plow or shovel snow, and the wind will blow it right back. Someone said they can't get out of their doors, because of the snow. I know that this is true for many. Cousin's wife had someone come and clean out 5 foot drifts, and other people had to come to clear it out again. I have access to many photos from this storm.

I follow Sonne Farms on You Tube, they are located near Mitchell SD. Last video they put up this week they said they were expecting snow the next day. They hoped for a big one, it'll mean good ground moisture for the spring. They had almost no snow last winter and have already ran out of alfalpha due to lack of cutting this year. They run a cattle operation and grow most of their feed.In case you didn't hear it on the news, South Dakota and other states have been having quite a blizzard. You live close to reservations. I remember a big snow storm something like 10 years ago, maybe more. One story I heard was about a carload of Native Americans driving in that storm. One of the men didn't have shoes, others didn't have coats. I don't remember the death count from that storm, but at least 10. The other thing that I remember about that storm was how many cattle died. I imagine that that is true of this storm. I want to say 100,000 head of cattle died, but it may have been a million. I don't remember exactly.I'm in north west South Dakota. We got20 inches here. Haven't left the place since Thursday. Most roads are impassable. Power went off yesterday. Came back on for a while today. Generator is getting a work out! No plows will be running until Saturday at the earliest
I have been following them for a long time. One morning at 4AM it dawned me that I was awake, up and watching a 24 year old guy spread manure. I wondered what was wrong with me but I kept watching.I follow Sonne Farms on You Tube

I even bought one of their slappies and I don't have any cattle.
From what I have been able to see it doesn't look like they got buried under a ton of snow so hopefully they're ok.
