Duster or demon?

I bought a 1971 Demon that was 11 months old.
It had the 340 with a 4 speed Hurst.
That thing was built for speed. The original owner spent more money at the local hot rod shop than he did for the car.
I had to replace the clutch several times. They just wouldn't last long.
He was in Vietnam as an advisor and his wife got tired of it just sitting and her making the payments so she let me have it for $1900. I would bet there was a divorce in her future.
My wife rolled it while I was sitting off the coast of Vietnam and totaled it out. So I guess karma got me back.
My first love totaled my second love.
I have the license plate hanging in the shop.

I finally got my photos from London uploaded. Have some cool videos from the Aquarium, but they won't upload here.

Couple of tv shows most of us have watched. I used to see McLain Stevenson often. He played colonel henry blake on mash. This was well after mash, in the 90's. He was on the board of directors for a burn center/hosp where I had a catscan. One day I went to eat in the hospital cafeteria, they had big picnic style tables with bench seats. I got a tray, found a seat and asked the guy across the table to pass the salt. It was Colonel Blake!

In case you didn't hear it on the news, South Dakota and other states have been having quite a blizzard. Deadwood, SD received 48 inches of snow. Interstates have been closed, and some people still want to drive. The storm has lasted 4 days. Schools have been closed, which I only experienced once as a child. This photo, is of a man riding a horse, because the snow is too deep to drive. When you refuse to stay home and get stuck on a highway in a vehicle, you present a danger to yourself and others, and you also prevent snowplows from clearing the roads. In South Dakota, the wind blows a lot! Someone said that they have been having wind gusts up to 60 mph. People will plow or shovel snow, and the wind will blow it right back. Someone said they can't get out of their doors, because of the snow. I know that this is true for many. Cousin's wife had someone come and clean out 5 foot drifts, and other people had to come to clear it out again. I have access to many photos from this storm.

I follow Sonne Farms on You Tube, they are located near Mitchell SD. Last video they put up this week they said they were expecting snow the next day. They hoped for a big one, it'll mean good ground moisture for the spring. They had almost no snow last winter and have already ran out of alfalpha due to lack of cutting this year. They run a cattle operation and grow most of their feed.

I'm in north west South Dakota. We got20 inches here. Haven't left the place since Thursday. Most roads are impassable. Power went off yesterday. Came back on for a while today. Generator is getting a work out! No plows will be running until Saturday at the earliest
You live close to reservations. I remember a big snow storm something like 10 years ago, maybe more. One story I heard was about a carload of Native Americans driving in that storm. One of the men didn't have shoes, others didn't have coats. I don't remember the death count from that storm, but at least 10. The other thing that I remember about that storm was how many cattle died. I imagine that that is true of this storm. I want to say 100,000 head of cattle died, but it may have been a million. I don't remember exactly.

I have been following them for a long time. One morning at 4AM it dawned me that I was awake, up and watching a 24 year old guy spread manure. I wondered what was wrong with me but I kept watching.
I even bought one of their slappies and I don't have any cattle.
From what I have been able to see it doesn't look like they got buried under a ton of snow so hopefully they're ok.
Their Instagram pictures look like the got a couple of inches. Good news for next years crops.

I watch their channel. I come from a family of farmers, many in South Dakota, so that kind of channel interests me. Cole has figured out how to keep himself financially afloat while doing all that farm work. They have a large operation.
I have cousins who live fairly close to Mitchell, but in a different direction. One cousin called me this week and I asked him how the snow was for them. He told me that their town is in a pocket, a somewhat protected area. All around them can get much, much more snow than they do.
The interesting thing about a state like South Dakota is that different places have geological features that somewhat predict how they will be affected by weather. I went to college in Aberdeen for two years. That was always the coldest place. The wind blew, it was frigid, and there was so much snow. I remember going out on weekends with friends, and you could never dress warm enough. People had the best parka's they could find, but you were always just cold. Rapid City, on the other hand, is in a banana belt. It usually is much warmer than the rest of the state. The center of the state is plains and the wind blows right through there. My home county, Hyde County, has had the most productive wind farm in all of the U.S. Once it was realized, there have been many other wind farms put up in the center of the state. No matter the temperature, the wind always makes you feel much colder.
