Wonderful day playing music under the trees, had a blast! It was a beautiful day. Had 5 dobro players but not a single banjo. I played about 3 hrs. The circle finally got too big, to many bad pickers joined the group. I couldnโ€™t hear the good pickers any more so I stopped. Besides, 3hrs sittinโ€™ in that metal chair and my butt went to sleep. ๐Ÿคฃ I had to get up and walk around for a while.

There was a kid sitting beside me who could really play, had a great singing voice too. He didnโ€™t know any bluegrass but knew a lot of old country which was fine. Enjoyed listening to him.

Then the ladies finally started bringing out the food! There were 2 tables of food and another whole table of desserts. Every dish was homemade except one pie someone had bought. Even a big plate of sliced homegrown tomatoes, they were yummy.

Micky had a big cast iron pot of white beans and sausage cooking all morning. He asked me and a really old guy to get it to the table. He should have asked someone younger or bigger, the fella dropped his end of the bar. I saw it start to happen and managed to save the pot without spilling any. Strained my back but oh well! Saved the beans! ๐Ÿคฃ

I was surprised!! The songbirds were all carrying on. I was outside with the dog, just got home from work a little bit ago, decided to look up. I love owls.
Every evening about this time we start seeing them! Hearing them right now! I'll be watching for them!!

Fall is in the air, even though it's 86 degrees today! Leaves are starting to drop. The color change is actually pretty good this year because of the drought. This far sought we usually just get browns, soft yellows, rusty reds and pale greens. This year we have bright reds, vibrant yellows. The drive up to the mtn yesterday was amazing. Still not as good as north of the ohio river but for here, definitely amazing.

Fall is in full force here. The leaves and trees are beautiful!! A high of 70 today, so itโ€™s perfect for my walks with my big boys (dogs)! I did take some bear spray for the morning walk as we have one running around hereโ€ฆplus it was still mostly dark. Heard it run away in the forest yesterday morning. BIG difference between deer running through the woods and a freaking large bear! Had my Glock on my side, but I doubt that would stop a bear. Anyone know which is best?

Darn leaves in my backyard! I hire someone to scoop the leaves up and haul them away, so it ain't too bad.

Haul it away? You're throwing away fertilizer. Just run your mower over to chop them up and leave it. Where you live it'll be covered by snow most of the winter anyway! ๐Ÿ˜

If the bear is confrontational, I'm using everything. Glock in shooting hand, bear spray in other hand and sick the dogs on it.

Thanks zoom zoom! Will do that approach if confronted! Hoping the darn thing moves along. We have the rabbit area and chicken house cameras on at night to alarm us if it attempts to get to them. The local pharmacist lost ALL his chickens last spring to a bear and her cubs. Tore his chicken house to pieces. He had a lot of hens too!

Probably not relevant for Lenny, but here's what I found that works great.
With my mower, when you mow over the leaves driving forward, it spits them out the deck pretty much whole (same condition as they were on the ground).
I use this forward motion to blow the leaves into rows. Then, I drive backwards over those rows. Not sure of the physics of it but driving backwards will completely shred the leaves into near dust.
My yard is nearly 2 acres, surrounded by 100+ acres of woods. I get a TON of leaves. I haven't touched a leaf rake in as far back as I can remember.
