Wonderful day playing music under the trees, had a blast! It was a beautiful day. Had 5 dobro players but not a single banjo. I played about 3 hrs. The circle finally got too big, to many bad pickers joined the group. I couldn’t hear the good pickers any more so I stopped. Besides, 3hrs sittin’ in that metal chair and my butt went to sleep. 🤣 I had to get up and walk around for a while.

There was a kid sitting beside me who could really play, had a great singing voice too. He didn’t know any bluegrass but knew a lot of old country which was fine. Enjoyed listening to him.

Then the ladies finally started bringing out the food! There were 2 tables of food and another whole table of desserts. Every dish was homemade except one pie someone had bought. Even a big plate of sliced homegrown tomatoes, they were yummy.

Micky had a big cast iron pot of white beans and sausage cooking all morning. He asked me and a really old guy to get it to the table. He should have asked someone younger or bigger, the fella dropped his end of the bar. I saw it start to happen and managed to save the pot without spilling any. Strained my back but oh well! Saved the beans! 🤣

I was surprised!! The songbirds were all carrying on. I was outside with the dog, just got home from work a little bit ago, decided to look up. I love owls.
Every evening about this time we start seeing them! Hearing them right now! I'll be watching for them!!

Fall is in the air, even though it's 86 degrees today! Leaves are starting to drop. The color change is actually pretty good this year because of the drought. This far sought we usually just get browns, soft yellows, rusty reds and pale greens. This year we have bright reds, vibrant yellows. The drive up to the mtn yesterday was amazing. Still not as good as north of the ohio river but for here, definitely amazing.
