This was Quang Tri Combat Base in 1970, Republic of Vietnam.
Headquarters base camp of the 1st Infantry Brigade, 5th Infantry Division (Mechanized ), US Army.
10 miles in the background of the photo lies the DMZ and our enemy, the country of North Vietnam.
This is where I spent a year of my life and became a man.
I didn’t find out until years later that Quang Tri Province was the deadliest in all of South Vietnam. I thought everywhere was that bad.
There were no Viet Cong, our opponents were North Vietnamese Army regular troops. Hard corps.
The thread about God made me think of this.
I’m not a hero, never was. Just a survivor.

YOU DID YOUR DUTY AND PROBABLY SAVED A LOT OF LIVES.
THANK YOU!

Found some old photos from a 1985 trip up to the arctic circle in canada . the buildings were on the top of the world highway alaska on the way back and that is me after riding all day all night in the mud and rain....I have a feeling I was getting some experience for what 2025 is going to be like.

I agree, as long as it doesn't get violent. Then all bets are off.
I know in our community, people take care of each other. No one goes hungry or gets cold around here.
I plan on doing everything in my power to keep the Amish safe from violence, even if it means doing things they won't do. In that part of the country I'm sure there are many like minded citizens that will step up and help.
