On my road and back home ... home sweet home ...nobody around ! 👍

I started this project last october… I have no space!!!! I have one closet in my house, the door is behind the bathroom door, pretty much unusable, bad design. In the laundry I have a metal storage locker with clothes but there were chairs, shelves and totes stacked in front. Basically for clothes I haven’t worn or seen in years. I have a metal clothes rack in the laundry that functioned as my closet. It was pushed against a freezer and had totes in front I had to reach over. The laundry rm had a path to the dryer from the washer. Could only access the freezer from the ends. The door to the porch could only be opened by moving chairs and totes. Even had to move items if I wanted to use the drying rack.

The first pic… Laundry rm... I’d already thrown out 4 - 39g lawn trash bags of junk. The path to the dryer was a little wider that it had been.

Next 3… it’s so much better than before, I’m a happy camper. I can access the white clothes locker and actually use it! I can walk the entire length of the freezer and reach the clothes rack from either side. I can open the porch door anytime I want. Best of all, I can fold clothes on top of the freezer now!!!!! And... on the rare occasion I iron a shirt I can do it in the laundry rm without dragging the ironing board down the hall to the living rm.

Still have to move some crap beside the white locker and move the bed parts away from the corner at the end of the piano. Took 3 months to get here but had to reorganize, rewire 2 other rooms concurrently and rebuild a stair landing. The other 2 rms have much further to go… maybe finish by summer.

No room...

Do you play the piano, Peanut?

Just when I was a kid, an old man taught me a 'chording' style of piano that used to be played in rural churches. Haven't heard anyone play that style in decades. But I was more interested in guitar, banjo and mandolin, and bluegrass. Only play guitar now. This piano was my sister's. She's deceased and her kids don't want it. Can't give piano's away, hate to junk it though. Keep thinking someone will want it.

Someone probably will. There was an old piano ($20) in our thrift store, little granddaughter would go in and play it when we shopped. But it's gone, I guess someone wanted it.

People are giving pianos away frequently, even grand pianos. When I was a kid, many people took piano lessons, but not so much any more.

I'd like one, but I would need to get rid of some furniture to make room for it. I used to have one, but I gave it away a couple decades ago. It was an upright. If I was to get rid of furniture and get a new to me piano, I'd get a spinet. I'm mostly self taught.

Woman with sod house in Nebraska.JPG

This could be one of my great aunts or my g grandmother. That shovel could also be used to kill a rattlesnake.
---------------------------------

A woman proudly stands on the harsh and unforgiving plains of Nebraska during the 1890s in front of her one-story sod house. She symbolizes the pioneering spirit characterized by resilience and determination. She is equipped with a shovel, which is vital for daily labor, and another tool, which is a binocular case, to facilitate vigilance and self-sufficiency in her survival on a remote frontier. The sod house is a marvel that comes directly from the earth, reflecting the ingenuity and resourcefulness that made survival possible in this unforgiving environment.
The nearby cook stove and chicken coop add more proofs to the ingenuity needed to subsist on prairie land. A cook stove offered warmth, and the chicken coop gave them dependable food. Again, these examples, although minimalistic, highlight resourcefulness to an extent at which people utilized the least possible option for stability in this harsh environment of their own newly claimed territory.
This picture offers a vivid look into the lives of women who were among the pioneers who were crucial to shaping the American frontier through strength, determination, and adaptability. Their contribution did not only enable them to survive the trials of frontier life but also formed the foundation on which communities that eventually thrived in the plains would be established. The legacies of these women are the reminder of how instrumental they were in the growth and development of the American West.

I'd like one, too, but not sure where I'd put it!

I totally get it. I have two rooms, once called parlors. They are not large, maybe 14 by 16 at the most, but actually smaller, I think. The guy who used to own the twin house to mine, had a spinet in his front room with two stuffed chairs, whereas I have a couch, two easy chairs, end tables, a coffee table and a trunk. I have almost the same stuff in the second room. I rarely use the front room and spend more time in the second room. I could get rid of and need to get rid of the furniture in the front room. Then I could have a piano there.
