A few years ago, when I was researching water filters, all the best one were infused with silver. The silver would kill anything that go through the filter. This is probably the excuse they use to declare them pesticides.

My question is, what are they planning to put in our water.
Hmmm. So, is my local water company using a "pesticide" to kill the "pests" that I would otherwise drink in untreated water? This is so weird.

Every day bring a new weird. Was it always that way or is everything just so “in your face” now?

I went to town and had 10 stops to make. I had a day to get my errands done and so I made the most of my gas mileage and the car was full of stuff at the end of the day. I stocked up on some more coffee on sale even though I don't really need it. I figured it keeps good for a long time and inflation isn't going to get better any time soon. I stocked up on dog chewies on sale too. I also grabbed some more paper towels, paper plates, and plastic utensils. They never go bad and they were on sale, so again figured I'd stock some more. I even picked up a couple of Christmas gifts on sale. I also grabbed a few more canned goods. Every time I go shopping I grab a bit more to add to the pantry for winter.

This weekend I hope to gather all empty gas containers and get them topped off for winter. We also have at least 1 propane tank to fill too. The next time I'm in town again, will also stock up on some dog food and whatever else is on sale in the flyers. I wanted to stock up on dog food this time, but I didn't really have the room.

Just got a rebuild kit for the frontend of my truck. I noticed one of the boots going bad so I decided to have the parts on hand to do a complete rebuild.
As much "RAIN" as they get there, your truck likely needs chest waders.

Amen. When I was a teen the Coast Guard pulled me over for speeding down the Main Street of town.
I have actually only been there once. Was ferrying an aircraft to southern California to be painted. Overnighted, never view the town, went straight from the airport to hotel, departed at first light. Was an interesting flight. I was co-pilot because the pilot was blind, and not IFR rated. Very interesting.

This week I made some progress on the preparations front: I was able to add to my stock of ceramic water filters and added some water storage for hygiene uses, I also finished up my planned solar panel upgrades for emergency backups, I got in my seeds for next season, and I ordered new clear sheeting for my greenhouse walls.

Side note: I started the weekly challenge on https://www.homesteadingforum.org/t...paredness-week-by-week-planning-and-preparing that @Weedygarden posted.

I had to make a trip to town with the truck, so I loaded it up while I was there. I got my heavy stuff out of the way before winter comes. I grabbed 5 bags of dog food which should last through the winter. I see that the price went up on Chewy's site and it was still the same price at TS, so I loaded up the dogs closet with food. I grabbed over a dozen 40# bags of softener salt since I had the truck and got a quantity discount. Refilled a 30# propane tank. Filled 4 fuel cans. Filled the truck with fuel. Grabbed some cases of beer. And I even got more coffee since it had an even better price this week than last. Plus, we got some more chores done that had to get done before winter. It was a productive and sweaty day, but I feel better to have it taken care of.

Oh, here we go......another war. Is this THE one that sparks this whole chitshow of WW3? Biden and his ilk have been jonesin' for this since 911. They're turnin' up the heat......I'm feelin' the need to get ready.

I've ordered enough this past week that the UPS man is going to wonder WTH? LOL! Now with another reason for gas prices to rise, along with everything else.....I'm spending.💰 If nothing else, I'm getting Christmas gifts early.

I took advantage of the Mountain House sale and stocked up on some extra LTS food.
I organized the pantry a bit so as to find room for the fresh LTS cans.
I have a solar trickle charger coming that hubby wanted on sale.
I stocked up on some extra rechargable batteries and charger.
Bought some accessories for the generator.
Bought a stainless steel coffee percolator.
Bought another Berkey on sale.....to give as gift.
Bought hubby some shoes and boots on sale.

Every time I feel like I'm ready, I find things that would make life easier in a grid down situation. If not for me, then for immediate family since I'm certain they are not as stocked as they should be. I wasn't going to get any more LTS food, but I figured I'd better keep it fresh and stock up while on sale. I could always give the older stuff away to family b/c it sure would be better than nothing.

How are your winter firearms different?
Winter guns have a much shorter length of pull, to compensate for winter clothing. Also, about half have been painted white.

Well it finally happened, we appropriated a spare bedroom for preps. Mostly the canning stuff that was in the kitchen pantry. We took out a futon and bought an industrial type shelving unit. Now she can't say we don't have room for more. I think asking her how adding a family of 4 to our home would look helped. We did keep the bunk beds in the room.👍

After processing a deer this fall I realized I don't have enough food saver rolls or bags. Also, my foodsaver still works, but it is really old and sometimes the bags don't seal (or stay sealed) like they should. So.....I bought a new food sealer online. It was way cheaper than I thought it would be and has some neat features and really good reviews for only $32. I also went ahead and bought a total of 300 feet of rolls and a few hundred bags too. That should do it for a while I think.

We went to a charity event a few weeks ago and picked up some things that we really didn't need, but was for a good cause:
Buddy heater
Nice binoculars
Multi-tool
Arrow heads for the crossbow
Wool socks
Fishing pole storage caddy
Air mattresses for cots

I also picked up some holiday candy at 90% off. I'll likely give most of it away, but it's still good to have some in storage. I'm thining about vacuum sealing some of the regular sized reeces bars in jars, even though I've never done that before.

Also picked up some more CO2 detectors......will give to the kids for gifts.
Got more venison in the freezer too.

I need a sealer that has a cap & chamber for jars.

Have a random question, what exactly are you prepping for?

It occured to me while ago it's pointless to try to prepare for anything more than a few months of some local disaster or food shortage or something
You really can't prepare for a nuclear war, or for a life ending natural event ( major asteroid, pole change, aliens with superior technology etc) or for if our own government wants to come take your stuff
Very few people have real bomb shelters that can hold up in a nuclear war, or a small army to defend their stuff
