Most people living an urban life in a first world nation, don't really care about Peace......as long as conflict is happening somewhere else....to someone else.

They are more motivated by comfort and material possessions......sometimes they are motivated by fear, anger, envy.....suspicion more so than anything analytical.

When warfare is just something they see on TV, they are OK with that......or indeed find it entertaining.......like watching a fireworks show.

I assess that most unprepared people, who find themselves in a new reality WROL, will start killing and stealing long before they get hungry.

Many will head out to settle old scores....grudges.

Many will kill for gas just so they don't have to walk....after their tank is empty.....or for their generator.....or the generator they stole yesterday.

People will kill for junk food.....or their favorite processed food.

At some point folks need to realize they belong to a tribe. Anyone not in that tribe is of no concern. They are seen as subhuman. How else can they justify the treatment of others. Look at some of the torture inflicted on others.

Currently much of the world is ran with good manners and handshakes. That will change when resources become scarce. The world is going back to normal

They will seriously injure or kill someone to "send a message" or because they are overdue paying a trivial debt.....or as a chess move in a turf dispute.

Think about what they would do to someone who has something they really need......and when there is no law enforcement to hold them to account.

I have to wonder how to tribes grow.from my recollection they usually took prisoners. Kept the females and killed the males, sometimes even the male babies, talk about a hardened heart The apache would take in a young males

You can “harden your heart” in order to protect yourself from being emotionally injured. As to how it is done, that is usually a matter of advance decisions, and self-discipline. You decide in advance that you will do a specific thing, or will respond a certain way, and then in the event, you steel yourself to actually follow through.

In defensive “hardening,” you anticipate that you are going to feel a great deal of pain, suffering, and mental anguish so you in advance try to persuade yourself that the pain you will experience is to be expected and essentially ignored. You still experience it, but because of your advance planning, you don’t also suffer from fear or panic because of how you feel.

Are you mentally and emotionally prepping to survive immersion in a hellish reality...?? Hardening one's heart in a survival environment may be the difference between being paralyzed and unable to react as needed or overriding that and acting swiftly for the survival of others and yourself.

I don't think I have a hard heart, but I know that whatever comes my way, or the world's way, I will be able to walk through it without crumbling into a weeping heap of mush.

I lost a child. I came within inches of death. I left an abusive spouse in a foreign land and figured out how to survive until I was able to get home (I left with only my son and the clothes on my back). I will muscle through whatever comes next and I think I will land on my feet.

God walks beside me.

I have those thoughts every day just about, it's called anxiety disorder....
You will GET panic attacks if you do this enough
I have always thought that if you are happy, something bad will happen ( and it does generally)

When I was 12, the youth leaders in my church went on a car trip to Mexico. They never came back. A train hit their car and they died instantly. Someone brought back a newspaper from Mexico showing their bodies laying there all - wrecked. Back in those days there was no counseling and I never told my parents I saw the pictures.

From that point on I had a dread of any exciting upcoming trip - wondering if it was the one we wouldn't come home from. I pushed on with life anyway and had adventures. Then I took a friend to the airport and came home to have the baby sitter tell me my baby wasn't breathing very well. He was air lifted to Yale New Haven hospital where he died the next day.

Bottom line: never leave your kids or your friends or family for a minute or you or them might die.

Somehow I survived and I don't think I am an emotional wreck. I never cry. And whatever comes before me I will find a way to deal with it.

It is quite a dilemma. On one hand, if you are a Christian and live the faith, you are to give, maybe even the shirt off of your back. On the other hand, you can give your life to help out people who can't figure out how to get out of a bag.

The Bible says not to murder, it also says that if you don't take care of your family, protecting it from all harm and suppling everything needed, then you are worse than an infidel.
