I recently encountered a woman with a severe speech impediment….she can’t stop talking! I’ve always been fairly economical with my words, but not her. I can ask her a simple yes/no question and I kave time to go to the kitchen and make a sandwich. When I return to the phone…she’s still “answering”.
It’s so damned annoying!
WTH, anyone know wordy people like that?
Absolutely. I've even known some that were so stupid they thought they were smart. Like anyone really wanted to hear anything they had to say.

My mom was like that. I could set down the phone and come back to it later, just say uh huh every so often.
My Uncle Melvin's funeral last week...he was 101 yrs old. His son read some of his diary from 20 yrs back. It said, enjoyed the day fishing with the boys...described what he caught...then said after supper, got a call from Ellie (my mom) and she talked till midnight. We laughed, knowing that happened. Told my cousin that his dad is now in heaven listening to his sister talk his ear off again.

That would be me. In forum posts and email at least.

In person, it depends. I am either nearly silent or very talkative. It depends on the person(s) I am interacting with. One-on-one, with a friendly person, I am talkative. One-on-one with a quiet person, I am quiet. In a group, I am usually quiet. But not always.

I have a lot more to say on this, but I will cut this post short so as not to prove my point stated above.

YES!! 🙄

I did not mean to imply that quiet people are not friendly. This was a poor choice of words on my part. I used "friendly person" to describe a "talkative person". Because some people may take "talkative" as a negative thing (the very point of this thread). I don't think it's a negative at all.

I like talkative people. They make others at ease usually, because those others don't feel the need to say something during a silent period (since there are none of those!) Unless they dominate a conversation to the extent that nobody else can get a word in edgewise. And that can be annoying if you are a talkative person in competition with an extra-talkative person. And the quiet people just roll their eyes at this battle of the tongues.

I had a boss one time when I was working overseas and he was in the US. We had weekly phone meetings. This guy could talk non stop for hours. Many times I'd set the phone down on my desk and leave for the bathroom. I'd come back and he'd still be talking. I don't like people who talk too much. Sometimes when my wife is going on and on about nothing I just leave the room.

It’s very rude to talk nonstop like that. I know too many people that are talkie talkers. I rarely get involved in others’ conversations because there’s usually not a clear break where I can speak without it seeming like I’m interrupting. It can be entertaining to watch and listen to slow nonstop Texas talkers especially when they dig themselves a hole. Well it was all about them in the first place.

I am one who gets distracted easily when someone controls the talking. I immediately go into my OCD mode, and will begin counting the amount of times the word "I" is being used. With this information, you can really dissect what is being said.

I call it, "It's all about me syndrome."

Sometimes when I've been quiet during a conversation, one of the talkers will stop to gasp for breath and say, "We haven't heard much from you today." I usually answer, "I was waiting for an opportunity to break in, and the wait continues." Then I go back to silent mode allowing an awkward pause to add an exclamation point to the comment. I don't do this to friends, only boorish acquaintances that I don't care for all that much.

I owned a '88 T/A for years up to 2018. :D
Here it is running up to 6500rpm on the dyno:

It was damfast and could kill you if you weren't trained.
Required rant: I still miss it to this day. :(

There is an 84 comero in my garage waiting for a custom exhaust for the new crate engine.

I like to mess with them. I just stare at a point between their eyes, they pick up on it subconsciously after a minute and they start freaking out. I had this "Chad" boss once I did it to regularly, he never did figure it out. Damn fake vet.

OH MY, I am sooooooooo bad:

I got a week vacation from X for saying "light a fire under their butt". X took it as a threat! We always called the magpie people a "Dutch uncle"! Boy he/she can talk like a Dutch uncle said it all. You can start out talking about a problem with a calf and get to half time during the Super Bowl without you saying a word! Some people can talk for hours without saying anything! We were taught to say something like, well isn't that special or, how about that instead of who gives a s***! Now in my mid life I have no problems telling people to shut the F*** UP! And while your at it go away!

Man am I tired of paying for permission to share a planet NONE of us actually own through capitalism specifically real estate.
