There's obviously a lot of people out there that have no problem with sucking off the government tit. But there are a few of us left who would never consider taking tax payers money. Years ago I had a serious accident at work that left me partially disabled. I was told that I was "entitled" to disability payments. There was no way that I'd accept a government handout when I could work. It was hard but I managed to go back to work after almost a year off.
There are some people who truly are disabled and can't get a job. And that's what charity is for, not the government. It is never right for the government to take from one person and give to another person for any reason. That's money that could go to my family.

I have news for you bud,,once your tax dollars reach the feds it is not yours any longer,,we have very little say in where it goes,,,,,,,,,,and again we pay for that benefit and if you or I or the guy down the block become disabled we are entitled to that monthly benefit,,,,,,if you don't want it that is fine by me ,,,

what bothers me is the billions given to other country's instead of taking care of our own people,,,,,you want to bitch and moan about something this in my opinion is a bigger problem than welfare,,,,,,,instead people like you and few others cry about helping people in the USA,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,kind of pathetic to me,,,we have a real waste of money and it is ignored

I've got use for anyone with this socialist "entitlement" mentality. No one is entitled to my money but me and my family. Someone else's hardship isn't my responsibility or problem.
I do agree that all handouts of tax payer money to all countries should be cut off.

complaining about how the FEDS spend tax money is kind of like pissing into the wind and then getting mad because you got wet,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,there is nothing you can do about either

I agree with some of these points, but I'm surprised that no one brought up my biggest problem.....gaurenteed income.

If there's anything worse than welfare, I think it's guarenteed income.

Not only in Chicago, but Washington D.C. and New York City are talking about it.

I predict--as a paramedic--that a spiraling epidemic of drug addiction will follow this ill-conceived social experiment.

If you want to talk about a sense of entitlement, then talk about guarenteed income.

I have no doubt that if guaranteed income were given to those people in the video , it would all go to drugs.

The concept of GI is just another form of 'welfare'. We could list 1000 different flavors of it, but I've given my 'definition' that covers these.

I think GI in these liberal sh*tholes is great. It's been a disaster everywhere they've tried it. Let these places waste more money & drive out any decent people out of the area/state and come to conservative states. Then let those places financially collapse as they should.

Sorry about your 'prediction'... that's like me saying I expect the US national debt to exceed $10 trillion... I'd be a little late! We already have a spiraling epidemic of drug addiction. How could you tell if it gets worse due to this?

The bottom line is that socialists keep trying to experiment to find the 'right formula' that actually works. It's like somebody trying to make a perpetual motion machine, it's impossible (because the basic premise is flawed) yet they keep trying.

Liberals never get this point. When the gov't decides all the choices in their lives (healthcare, income, possessions, etc), then gov't also can ration those items at their will and to whom they choose. "Oh, that will never happen because we vote" they will respond. Really? Like in Venezuela today? 1938 Germany?

I just read an article how homeless people found out that our town was a good place to stay so they started coming up here. Our town is buzzing with the conversation and people are divided. It did feel good to read that several residents are now living here from California. They are not in favor of the homeless based on their experience in California. There maybe hope for Texas :)

We have by policies (indirectly) in this state that rewards homelessness and punish the retirees, retirees are losing their homes due to taxes, we had a democratic congressman in king county stated that retirees are a burden to the state.

Problem is, this is how liberal states think!

The real problem is Liberal politicians that are a burden to the tax payers.

GG, you sound like my late dad..reading you comment I swear I could hear him sitting on the sofa saying that to me. ;)

I lived in Seattle for over a decade before work brought our family elsewhere. The majority of Seattleites disagree with this film and find it sensationalistic and overly dramatized. Is there an issue with homelessness and drugs? Yes. Is Seattle dying? No. But, if people want to think that, most Seattleites would be over the moon. Populations in Seattle/Tacoma over the last decade has boomed, jacking up real estate prices, turning the freeways into a near parking lot, and resulting in the paving over of beautiful forests to create little boxes on a hillside for the incoming folks. They would be grateful for a leveling off or decrease in population.
