The MSM has picked up on it today and the people north of the Mason-Dixon line are gonna get clobbered!

We're good. The pup was in shell shock when I dumped him outside this morning to do his business. I noticed that most of the churches cancelled in the bigger town. Hopefully the salt trucks got the streets loaded in the bigger town, I'm sure they did. That town is called Salt City (ha) because of the salt mines and Morton Salt Factory. They have no excuse.
We still have regular power and water. When/if that goes, we have the whole house generator that kicks on. Just got the wood burning stove roaring again. Outside animal chores will not be fun. It's pretty ugly out there right now with the wind, too.

Watching all the power outage reports related to the ice storm and now blizzard (in Kansas)! What a mess in many states!! Hope @Amish Heart has power, check in when you can!! Would like to here how things are in @Morgan101 's neck of the woods!!?

So far we have a dusting of snow; barely covered the ground. Temps are in the 20's, so whatever we get is going to be here for a while. I'm wondering when the rest of the storm will arrive. The forecast was 5"-7".

It's just super ugly out here right now. The wind is bad. Supposed to go on all day. A bit of a white out.

Here too, super ugly ,but the wind isn't so bad. Snow is falling now, and supposed to continue all day. One of the benefits of being retired. We aren't going anywhere, and have everything we need to last until Spring if need be. I will watch it all from a warm cozy recliner.

Pretty much one right now. Levi walked over and had some coffee and banana bread. He and little granddaughter are clearing and salting, but it's pretty much a waste of time (ha). Anyway, we'll brave the animal chores in about an hr, and those two will be my water fetchers. That's the worst of it. Neighbor just texted and needs eggs. She said she'll walk over later, and knowing her, I'm sure she will. About a half mile or so. Like Morgan, it's not going to let up and will continue all day. The windbursts are bad though. We are always just fine. This weather comes every year.

A few things I did do just in case we lose power. I checked the batteries in the emergancy radios. Made sure the big batteries are fully charged. anything that takes a charge i.e. cell phones, lanterns, computers etc are fully charged. Blankets and candles are handy. I mean I could do something other than watch it snow. :dunno:

I'm going to take a nap!!😉

most of this nasty scary weather would be called a pleasant day where we get actuall seasons

Aw, come on guys, it is beautiful. Even though the winds are almost 30 mph and it's 12 degrees out, still snowing hard. Going down to neg one. What is not beautiful is my floor. The coming in and the going out with the salt. A mess. Rowdy the pup is liking it, but the guinea he tackled will not make it. They can't fly in this wet.

really, any weather that people are not prepared for is a problem for those people. people here wait until they get snowed in to think about getting snow removal equipment, and worse whine about what getting plowed out costs. A few candles will raise the temperature of a room, but they need to be contained, so that they burn the wax and not just the wick, and of course done in a fireproof container etc...

And then let's talk about Texas ....so it really looks like winter precip Wed night through Friday morning. TXDOT's idea of taking care of the roads will be applying brine to the roads....like on Monday!! 🙄🙄🙄

Ridiculous.
They're idiots. Honestly. The brine water or sand all disappears off the road by the time the precipitation gets here. Why can't each county that has the possibility of snow get at least two snowplows? I mean at least pick up trucks with plows! @Pearl does your guy have a plow for ya'll's truck? I bet he could make some decent money doing that.

No plow! Hubby's truck is only 2WD, I have the 4! But no kidding on roads!! Bad thing is we usually get more ice than snow anyhow! Maybe a little sand wouldn't kill them?!
