Aw, c'mon now, you think the Superbowl is all about the money?!
Oh, Shirley not!

So question- I just figured out it’s super bowl weekend. I thought that happened last month sometime. What teams are in it this year? I’m gathering from comments maybe KC Chiefs and Philly Eagles???? Not that I will watch it, but if I end up talking to someone and they mention it, I’d like to sound like I know what they’re talking about 😂

I'm still curious why Americans support the NFL.
The last Superbowl I watched was Peyton Manning's swan song (Superbowl 50 where he defied all the naysayers)
Not because I'm a fan of Peyton or the NFL, but because I went to school with his father, Archie Manning. The only other NFL game I watched since was because I was at my sister's house at Christmas and they were watching. I didn't have a dog in the fight so it wasn't of much interest.

Yesterday I realized my neighbors haven't mentioned a party, so I can only assume they are going somewhere else to watch the game, which is very rare for them so maybe I am on their outcast list again. Either way I wasn't planning on going because I have no interest this year.
I also noticed that no one at work, even the many customers that came in, mentioned anything about the game. No one at all. The only other places I have been this past two weeks were for a massage and the chiropractor. I am not surprised the massage guy didn't mention it but usually the chiropractor makes small talk about any upcoming event, just to make conversation, but no one in his office or any of the other patients mentioned it all. Last night I took my daughter to dinner and the only reason it came up in conversation is I asked if she was doing anything else this weekend, I wasn't even thinking about the game. She said No because her aunt and uncle (she lives with them) were going to her cousins house to watch the game and she wasn't going because she didn't want to watch the game and her annoying cousins would be there. She is usually interested in all sports but she has no interest in this game.

To sum it up, basically no one I have encountered the past month has mentioned anything about the playoffs or the game, well, aside from the few people who offered me condolences when the Lions lost. (Yet another year this Detroit native can say "Maybe next year.")

Same, I thought it was last month. I have no reason to watch it and rarely have. Maybe a glance in Maryland when the whatevers were in it. Maybe here in Texas once or twice. Just not into football, period.
@INresponse I haven't heard anyone mentioning it anywhere either. Work is about the only place I've been though, so... lol

Okay... so the super bowl is big deal in only small circles. But... watching, even if just paying attention to commercials and pre-game coverage of the area where the game is... gives a clue about today's tech and what is supposedly important. At this point all looks well in the infamous French Quarter of New Orleans.... a good reason to count your lucky stars, even from a distance.

I think I found your 'small circle'.

I grew up in a football family, my dad and my brother were both players and fans. I used to watch more than one game , picture in picture. I used to know all the teams, had my favorite players and would watch any team play.

Then they started kneeling for the Anthem, wearing social and political attire, yet not allowing others. The halftime shows went to crap. The announcers talked more about the famous people in the stands, or the disruptive players than they did the game.

A switch flipped in me and I've never watched another game.

Happily, I have alot more time on Sunday after church to garden, tend animals, bake, are go on nice afternoon drives with my husband.

So y'all have fun! I'll be out in the back pasture at the burn pile with a beer and great conversation with the man I love.

Husband is watching it, and I just saw a Pfizer commercial with a cute kid on it...saying they're going to beat cancer by 2030
That would be awesome. Maybe the rumors are true that most cancers are curable but big pharma makes more money from the treatment than they would from a cure? Also, plenty of doctors are claiming that cancer needs sugar to live and grow so drastic diet changes could/should help, but just like big pharma spending billions on advertising so does the "instant" food industry and they are not likely to claim their mashed potatoes or cookies or sodas are killing you.

Back on topic, I saw my neighbor in the small town store an hour ago and she said nothing about the game. So, obviously they are home but are either not having a party or they didn't want me there. Either way I was planning to stay home and relax.

Not liking the half time show. Can't understand a damn word. Credit to the dancers as they're good.
isn't that part of the show kinda Racist...?!? I don't see any white people in that, sure some are light skin but, But, BUTT they ain't white...!!! That singer and all those dancers ain't...!!
