Growing up we always had a real tree.
Being single most of my adult life I either didn't bother or if I was feeling festive I'd get a small potted tree or one of those rosemary plants grown to shape like a tree..
...now my lime tree holds any ornaments I have ..only a few.
Bonanza..there is a ranch you can actually visit in Tahoe.
I really don't do resolutions now..just a review of the year and a mental debrief of what to accomplish..that's become kinda a daily thing but it's taken the form of having a moment to express gratitude for yesterday 🙏 and go over how I want today to roll out.

Stockings are hung up for us, the kids and the grandkids. And the cats, dog and parrot. Seriously.

Continuing with the Christmas theme, do you buy that special someone one nice gift, or several smaller gifts?

Christmas is kind of all year long for us. Meaning that we might buy something for each other, but not necessarily to open Christmas Day! So to stick with the game, several smaller gifts!

We haven't hung stockings since the kids outgrew them, and we have substantially cut down on decorating. It just isn't the same when there aren't any believers in the house.

If there are significant gifts we don't wait for Christmas. We both get what we want throughout the year. I still like to shop, but we end up with a lot of smaller items.

Christmas stocking: Hang one every year or pointless Christmas decor?
The kids- all over 18, still like them up. Same ones they've had all their lives.

Small things, books, something useful. When the children started working we all chipped in to buy him something big, like the guitar he always wanted, to tickets to a gig. Not doing it this year. He has all he wants - and me! :D

Thanksgiving dinner: Talk politics, or skip the topic?
Never at a dinner, especially if you are invited or have guests, unless you know that you are on the same page. I know people whose determination to discuss politics when invited to Thanksgiving dinner at someone's home got them banned from ever being invited there again. Was it worth it?
