Also, today I bought a Marine Deep Cycle battery for the generator.

Marv, that looks amazing..what does that squirrel taste like? never tried it, Eyce88,congrats on that property, you lucky one, both of you :)

Been quite a good week. Joined the REI co-op which should help me get more hear at better prices. While I was at the store I snagged an item I've been pining over for a while, the Katadyne Hiker water filter system. That and two Lifestraws means my Bug-Out water needs are pretty much set. Could even purify water for bug-in if needed but seems less likely. Also scored some more bugout food: dehydrated meals, energy chews, and these really cool little Mylar pouches of a honey and peanut butter blend. Can't wait to try one of those! I imagine you just squeeze it straight out of the package and into your mouth. Got a tick key, as there are rampant deer in my neighborhood, much less the wilderness around my town. Biggest thing was I got a new bugout bag: the Sandpiper of California 3-Day Pass in ABU camo. Got a matching molle pouch that I've set up as a first-aid kit and mounted on the back of the bag for easy access. I put all my stuff from my old bag in it and found that I still had one compartment that I hadn't even opened yet! More importantly, it's WAY more comfortable so far. I plan on test hiking with it today but I did a four-block loop last night and it was very nice on the shoulders and neck, unlike the 5.11 3 day bag that I have. The straps on the 5.11 don't tighten enough on me, particularly the sternum strap. I guess I'm a skinny fellow? Anyways, my only complaint about the SOC bag is that the waist belt sits a little high. I know I'm not exceptionally tall, (right under 5 ft 11 inch) so there's got to be a way to adjust it so it sits right. This is a fairly common problem with me and bags, actually. The straps either don't tighten enough, or they sit in the wrong location. Hopefully this one does well on the test-hike, though.

got to day 1 bag of soy-granules,as substitute for meat, very light weight indeed only 500g,that goes in my BOB,high in protein and you can mix it with what you have in food with you,as it's dry stuff, shelf life is excellent.
tomorrow it will be more rice, beans, nuts and pasta

today is a good day..6 more 1-gallon jugs of water..spring water this time..lol...4-AAA rechargeable batteries at walmart..and a larger tool box for the van..and a pair of winter gloves. at harbor freight..

those buckets work like a charm, transferred a lot of rice, pasta and oatmeal into them..yup,did label them.

I bought my first pressure canner at Walmart today along with 2 dozen jars.
I wish I could tell you canning was economical, but you can buy canned stuff way cheaper. Now the upside is you get better tasting stuff, that you know is healthier, and it's honestly one of the most satisfying things I've ever done. I still have a little more store bought cans than stuff I've canned in the pantry, but I'll eventually replace 90% of the root cellar with my own stuff. One of the things I got was a paper bound copy of the ball canning guide. It has all he info you need to get started, and will work when the power is out. I've since gotten a few other books, but that one pretty much has everything you'll need.

this week,I'll have to add to my preps what we had in school on friday;learning the art of injections, yup we tried on each other :)

The local Dunham's had Buckshot for sale. I like to get the 4s. Coyote, Turkey, Home intruder... So many possible applications. Lol They sold for 3.99 per 5. I grabbed a few boxes. I also had a 20% off coupon and got a sweet deal on a turkey decoy.
Off to a coyote hunt tomorrow morning and around noon i have to shoot trap with my father in law. Life could be worse :)

I must be kinda weird, but I loved it what they trained us to do,and didn't mind being a test subject... :D
I guess it all depends on how good the tester is! I remember all of us being bruised at the end of that day :). I really enjoyed it too though. I think I'm the happiest when learning new things. If you're into learning, the human body is the coolest machine to study.

it is by far :)
simply amazing how the human body can be so weak and yet so strong at the same time.

I knew going in that it would only be marginally cheaper, if at all, especially when I have to start from scratch. My first project was dried pinto beans & I think they turned out ok. All of the jars sealed & I'm quite proud of myself. If we had the space to have a big garden, it would be more economical, but we live in town, so I tuck veggies in my flowers beds. The next time I find a good deal on meat, I'm going to can that, but have to build up my store of jars. I'm definitely going to check the used book store for the Ball canning book & I'm been watching Linda's Pantry on Youtube.

I found a clearance rack of Back packing meals at the local big box retailer , they are changing supliers and had them near 1/2 price I bought several in Cajun red beans and rice and jerk chicken .
Stopped buy a Surplus store and they had gotten in some Swiss rain coats and had them at $2.98 each I got 3 and may go back and pick up several more .
Picked up a special order form for baby chicks from Tractor supply . We are going to raise some Buff orphanton hens to go with our Domaneckers maby the offspring will be a little more friendly and buff colored barred dom's would be unique looking chickens .

my dom roosters are a little mean. I actually have three slated to become dinner really soon. By the time they get to be a year old they start getting onry. I also noticed a rhode island red rooster thats looking kind of beat up by them. I'm greatful we dont have 5 foot roosters in the world, the tough little guys would take over.

Due to being busy at work a lot on my prepping has been on hold including spending time here. I'm trying to change that. In their last few days
I have worked on getting ammo supplies beefed up. Just ordered 200 rounds of 9mm fmj ammo and 1k 9mm hp bullets to reload.
Also picked up a 5.11 Rush pack as a new GHB for my new truck.
Now to get ready for maple sapping season....

Got some exercise on the weekend (paintball), and I've gotten a lot better at movement and tactics lately. Got a lot of folks out who had better guns than mine, and more experience. Had a blast. My legs are sore as hell though, but it was some good exercise, and even though just paint, it really does get your adrenaline going, and helps you deal with the head games of being in a firefight. I can't wait to see the GoPro camera footage, as it was the first time I had a chance to try it out (had it mounted on the barrel, lol)....

It really is a fun thing to play. It's been a long time since I've done it. My son and a couple really nice guns, and I believe there still around here somewhere. Good training too, great idea on filming it for review.

My gun's like a decade old Tippmann A-5, but it works great, every time. I switched out the trigger for an E-trigger (so I can go full auto at the flip of a switch), put a sniper, flat-line barrel on it, went to high-pressure air (easy refills and an air gauge) and an Apex tip (for curving the paintball). I used the RealTree duct tape to completely cammo the gun too (and I typically wear RealTree cammo shirt, pants and boots).

Awesome!

Indeed, nice looking marker there Gaz.

Had a ton going on lately in my life, but I've made it a commitment to train with my armless dummy with all of my melee weapons at least twice a week and to go for a long walk with my wife 3 times a week, in addition to my normal conditioning workouts.

Just applied for an apartment that will be a step up for us so that's super exciting. Also decided that at the end of the summer I will be enrolling at the police academy and joining my local PD, God willing. I can't wait to be doing something I'm proud of every day instead of shoveling BBQ into dumb customers' mouths. When I was a little kid and my grandad asked me what I wanted to to when I grew up, I always said I wanted to be Batman. This will be as close as I can get
