I haven't bought a used vehicle since before 1984. We have 2 Jeeps and a Ford F250 right now. We're budgeted to replace these vehicles in '26 or '27. We're kinda thinking about replacing the wife's Grand Cherokee with a V8 Range Rover. We have time to figure it out.

We just started thinking about looking. I'll definitely look in to the Range Rover some more now. The reason we're looking at something besides Jeep is they stopped offering the V8 in the Grand Cherokee or the Wrangler.

The reason we're looking at something besides Jeep is they stopped offering the V8 in the Grand Cherokee or the Wrangler.

Getting rid of the V8 or even the V6 in smaller vehicles is what's going on now. They're going with smaller engines with all kinds of gadgetry (which normally cause more problems).
E.g. These are the new engines:
Chevy 2.7 turbomax
Ford 2.7L ecoboost
Working to replace the tried-and-true V6 & V8 engines.

I don't think you're interested in Toyota but as of 2025, most of their fleet has gone hybrid, whether you like it or not.

Don't get me wrong, these new little engines with their turbos and such are peppy but their reliability compared to the venerable V6 or V8 they're trying to replace just isn't there in my book. An old V8 (E.g. 5.3L V8 in a Chevy truck) will last damn near forever when maintained. I don't know if any turbo engine lasts more than 200K.
