My wife and I were talking about burying an ounce of silver here and there. Making a treasure map for each one. When the grandkids visit they can go treasure hunting. 🏴‍☠️
That sounds so awesome!!!:woo hoo:
I give 'em 2 visits before one shows up with a metal detector he borrowed.:ghostly:

That is a great idea with the treasure map.
We're planing on buying the grandkids metal detectors for their birthdays.
We've got an old mining camp and stage stop on our property. I was going to bury some old silver coins, without telling the kids, and turn them loose with the detectors.

I confess, I am a turncoat... I like stocks. :(
They send me muuney every 3 months that I can spend, as well as going up in value over time.

Sadly, not long ago MIL passed and hubby inherited part of her IRA, which wasn't a whole lot, but we told our investment manager to transfer the entire amount into a PM fund. He was hesitant to do that but it was well before the election and we wanted to make sure we had some 'paper' PM's too. We're just gonna let that account sit there b/c we don't need it right now, until they make him take RMD's.

As far a physical PM's we don't put all of it in one place. Aside from the stuff down Oak trail, we've got some scattered here and there. And when we go on vacation, we take some silver coins with us just in case.

Diversify! Metals, stocks, ETC.

People who give me trouble about buying gold somehow seem to assume that I have all of my wealth/savings in gold, when in reality it is a small part of my wealth. Granted, much more than the average American has. It is an emergency wealth...in case something happens to my brokerage accounts or to the US dollar.

I sold some gold over the last 3 years or so to pay off medical bills. The only silver that I've sold in recent years was some Mexican silver pesos that I inherited from my dad. Also gave some to the grandkids to spark their interest in saving PM's. When I was a kid my grandfather gave me a stack of Morgan silver dollars that he found buried in a strong box. I still have them, plus I now have dad's share.
I remember when mexican pesos were 7 cents us each

Not a blip.
Now at $2,875.
...Closing in fast on $2,900.
Notice the 52-week range:

The stock market is up a little bit today too. It's interesting to note that just in the past 30 days the DOW Jones has gone up over 1500 points, or 3.5%, or YTD its up over 2000 pts. These are definitely good times, with a lot more to come.

My money guy pointed out that gold is at an all time high. Suggested we sell all. Not to my liking. We settled on selling half to lock in those gains. So half takes the profits and the other half rides it out one way or another up or down.

As an old engineer investing drives me nut since there is no safe place. Arghhhh

My financial advisor suggested to sell our gold too. She also suggested to continue buying silver. I'm waiting for the magic $3000 mark to sell.

Historically PM'S and the stock market have been very safe.
For example, since 1981 the Dow Jones has gone up over 4500% or 43,900 points. Over the last 5 years alone, including the Biden years, it's gone up over 54% or 15,000+ points. Sure, there's always going to be a dip here and there. Those are not times to panic and sell, they are times to buy more. This is not advice. It's just what has worked for me.
