Over $150,000 in prizes. Grand prize is a brand new 4x4 full size pickup. Other prizes include 4x4 ATVs, Ice Castle fish house, many $250 cash prizes, 150 prizes in all. The contest runs for 3 hours on a lake about 20 minutes from where we live. There were sometime like 20,000 ice holes drilled on the lake last night.

I suspect ice is thick enough for portable houses, but not maybe permanent ice houses and vehicles here..

Trivia...
A number of years ago they had an big ice fishing contest on Lake Winnebago Wisconsin.. They roped off an area of the lake as a ...parking area.. for all the vehicles on the ice.. Before the day was over a dozen or more vehicles went through the ice where they were a concentrated group..

I never understood fishing contests, or fishing around crowds. When I go fishing it's for food, and I don't want to see another person around.

Many years ago I heard about this. Someone had a nice house built and was going to move it to an island. But they never made it to the island. The ice broke and they lost the house.

Where is the ice fishing contest?
The icefishing contest is held every year on Gull Lake near Nisswa, MN.
