Thinking of Groups vs Lone Wolf. I have seen in "bumpy" conditions neighborhoods will work together to clear snow or share an extension cord from a generator. I am all for that, but when food and drinking water start running out I don't think I want anyone to know what I am sitting on. The bumpy times are a good evaluation period to gather information and determine who is worth helping and who should be sent to the stadium to await state help....
I figure playing possum and staying vigilant is the only play that I have at this time.
But if times were hard long enough, even I might turn a little bit scavenger.

Amo and firearms may have to used against the unprepared trying to take resources from the prepared . When the economy had a downward turn a couple of years ago , I sometimes slept outside with a shotgun to guard my milk goat . Coming up is a situation much worse .

As someone rightly pointed out somewhere on this thread this is a homesteading forum not a prepper forum . So I realize some of my posts may be a bit more than some want to let soak into their brain . I point out horrific things in the hope of helping someone to realize what may be laying ahead and thus perhaps will help them and their dependents in the future years . So just the opposite of being some cold hearted person , am trying to reach out and help those that have a problem seeing ahead .
When you google this forum it does say prepping, food storage, farming, etc., so there are many on here for those reasons. I personally appreciate your posts!!
In my E-Mail this morning - GM and Toyota are shutting down manufacturing plants .

Where's that from? 2 days ago GM said they were re-opening all the plants that were shut down, but would be running a lot of reduced shifts or only one shift per day due to the ongoing chip shortage. If something changed in two days I'd like to know about it...
They did, GM, Ford and Chrysler are slowing production, Toyota cut production by 40%, all due to the chip shortage.
What the newz never speaks about is the fact they are running out of places to store these manufactured vehicles. The plants around here have filled their acreage with new vehicles with no chips.
I think they are just trying to keep people working as best they can. At some point that may have to end.
The chip shortage is easing up a little bit, but not a lot. New supply chain problems could throw everything into even worse disarray at any time. Interestingly I just read that when an automaker orders chips, the lead time is now over 52 weeks to get that order delivered, whereas it used to be 16 weeks. Plants in Malaysia were struck really hard by Covid but they're running full bore now to make up the difference. Problem is that the subcontractors that provide parts to those plants like silicone sheets, are not getting consistent production. It's a big clusterflop right now...

It is simply "the chickens have come home to roost" from us shipping all of that manufacturing overseas in the late 90's because it was soooo much cheaper.
They are still working on building the machines that will make chips here again
... let alone, opening plants, hiring workers, and actually starting to make chips.
Wonder who's gonna work in those manufacturing plants? The millennials won't last too long out on the floor, because they won't be able to look at their phones every 3 minutes. Yeah, our 2007 Tundra has scratches, war wounds, bumpers bent and rims don't look too good. Just don't have extra women to spare.

We are definitely up that brown creek without a paddle and the people in charge are certainly "Out To Lunch", all the good generals we've had have all been fired and what's left couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag, "Paper Tigers" is the word that describes what our military leadership has become. We'll look back at the Carter era as not being all that bad. China was given the Panama Canal and who's wet dream was that? Oh yeah, those parts to fix your vehicles and Christmas presents are all sitting in containers on board ships or stacked on the docks, forget the chips for new vehicles, must be at the bottom of the stacks. If you don't have what you need now, you may be SOL. I sort of feel sorry for people that thought we crazy for prepping, even our son and his girlfriend said, "We know what you are talking about but we hope it doesn't happen", they may not make it here even on the back roads, when the SHTF, we don't even want to be in any of the towns near us, when that comes about. Even the Bible warns about traveling in the winter when things get bad, the back roads we would use to get of town could have three feet of snow in the shady curves. Being prepped also means realizing that things can happen really fast. Learn to discern, pray for discernment, it may save your life.You can accuse me of 'normalcy-bias' but I do not believe we are headed to Armageddon.

All the signs are there: shortages, inflation, oil shortage, etc.
History will repeat itself because it has been too long, and many have forgotten what causes it.
We survived that.
For armageddon to happen, it would take something really bizarre, like having a mentally-handicapped person as Commander in Chief of the Military and carrying around the "nuclear briefcase".
The country would never allow that to happen.
