White South African farmers will be removed from their land after a landslide vote in parliament.

The country's constitution is now likely to be amended to allow for the confiscation of white-owned land without compensation, following a motion brought by radical Marxist opposition leader Julius Malema.

It passed by 241 votes for to 83 against after a vote on Tuesday, and the policy was a key factor in new president Cyril Ramaphosa's platform after he took over from Jacob Zuma in February.

Mr Malema said the time for 'reconciliation is over'. 'Now is the time for justice,' News24 reported.

'We must ensure that we restore the dignity of our people without compensating the criminals who stole our land.'

Mr Malema has a long-standing commitment to land confiscation without compensation. In 2016 he told his supporters he was 'not calling for the slaughter of white people - at least for now'.

Rural affairs minister for the ruling African National Congress party said 'The ANC unequivocally supports the principle of land expropriation without compensation'.

'There is no doubt about it, land shall be expropriated without compensation.'

Freedom Front Plus party leader Pieter Groenewald said the decision to strip white farmers of their land would cause 'unforeseen consequences that is not in the interest of South Africa'.

The deputy chief executive of civil rights group Afriforum said the motion was a violation of agreements made at the end of apartheid.

'This motion is based on a distorted image of the past,' Ernst Roets said.

'The term "expropriation without compensation" is a form of semantic fraud. It is nothing more than racist theft.'

The ANC is increasingly under pressure to speed up land redistribution to help shore up its support among poorer black voters ahead of the election next year.

Parliament ordered its constitutional committee to report back on the issue by August 30.

Botched and often violent redistribution of land in neighbouring Zimbabwe under ex-leader Robert Mugabe left many farms in ruins, and the drop in production triggered an economic crisis that still haunts the country.

Scary is what it is. And sad. S Africa was once the jewell of Africa and will be an impoverished **** hole like the rest of it before long. I truly feel for the farmers and probably all the white people there. This was their home for several generations. The writing is on the wall though. Nobody can say the white farmers in SA don't see the writing in giant letters. They can leave now or face executions (along with their entire families). Find someone to pay them at least a reasonable fraction of what their farms are worth, or pile their equipment against their house and burn it all down. Put their luggage in their car & drive off into the sunset.

But the next time I hear begging for food for starving africans or their Aids problem, I'll just ask how many white farmers have been revived from the dead there.

I'd recommend any other white farmer in the entire continent to take heed. Sad indeed.

I’m the first to admit that you and I are usually on opposite ends of the spectrum, but your right on in this case.
It would be really hard to give up everything you have worked for your whole life, but your life is worth more than things. I’m envisioning mass attacks with machetes, looting and rape by overwhelming numbers. I only see two options here. Either band together and buy an Arsenal, or leave. I’m still fifty fifty as to which I would do. I wonder what the gun laws are in S Africa. On second thought, who cares. The government just declared war on white people. They are not European, or Scandinavian. They are South African and I'm presuming to them, their loyalty and patriotism to their country is just as important as yours is to you and mine is to me.

I think this happened in east Africa in the 1800s. The railroad system was fantastic. They wanted whites out of the country ( Kenya I think). They were upset because the whites had all the good jobs. So the whites left ( civil war type of situation). Nobody( the Africans) knew how to operate the trains. They sold the railroad tracks to the Chinese for scrap metal. It was a knee jerk reaction with no prepping. They are still paying for it. If they instantly take all of this farmland, there will most likely be violence or a mass exodus or both. Either way it is going to be a major setback for the country.
