yes its 4wd but it doesn't start when it's really cold out ( we got a lemon....)
So that would be exactly what would happen to us. I think the truck is more reliable, and also 4wd plus we have chains for it ( somewhere....they still have to be located)
Just be aware that a plow mounted on a pickup truck is hard on the front end suspension and steering components. It doesn't sound like you'd be using it all winter so it should be fine. They also make some light duty plows that are fine for the occasional plow job.
 
Not my current area, but an area where I lived for a few years. I've experienced colder temps there.

hit 42f today...winds steady 10-15mph with gusts hitting 26mph...feel like it air from far north...but of course it still ice here on half or more of the ground...bare sections is mud in sun...lol....barsoom be weird !
