Lost power for 3 days. Eventually would come on for an hour, then off for hours more. Was in the low 40's in the house. Had fires in the fireplace until we ran out of firewood.

The pool went out and cost us about $60,000 damage. All the pool equipment was trashed, and we had 6+ inches of ice in the pool and spa. Had to renovate the entire pool and deck due to cracks from the freeze. What a fiasco!!

Insurance did not cover a thing.

A whole house generator probably seems like a bargain now.

finally cooling off here in the montana rockies...I was changing oil in the honda pilot and the 0-20 synthetic oil that I had stored in the unheated shed needed to be warmed in a sink full of hot water to flow thru the only funnel I found that would reach to the filler hole. At least there wasn't any mud in the driveway when I was squirming around underneath trying to get the drain plug out and the filter changed...
