We don't really hear the wood stove and the wood only cost us a gallon of gas/oil mix and a some time. ;)
I made a pedestal for the wood stove to sit on with an edge wide enough to sit on and lean my back on the stove side when it's not running full blast and my back loves it. Because of the way I insulated our home, the average wood usage is around one cord per year and thankfully, at my age, I have dear friends that give us firewood. We have an electric heater in the bathroom that I installed when I built our home, its got a very good fan that heats up the bathroom really good, I also installed an electric heater in the bedroom but we've never used it, other than those two heaters, the only heat source we've ever had was the wood stove.

Been there, cut that.
Both me, and this awesome weapon are retired:

Fill 2 pickup trucks full of wood in 2 hours? No problem!
Today, digital thermostat.
.5°F accuracy.... around the clock.:huggs:

Being in the mtns in the middle of nowhere we aren't on the "hurry up and fix" list for the power co. That fancy .5°F accuracy.... around the clock doesn't do much good when the power is out. We have central heat but only use it to keep the pipes from freezing when we are gone.

Hiwall, we're getting the same storm, and we already have about 8"..... and the worst of it won't hit until tomorrow! I L❤VE snow, but it traps me inside since my wheelchair just won't work when the snow is over the wheels!

❄☃⛄
You need tracks for the winter. You'll be unstoppable!!

We (they) have prepped and continuously tested the electrical distribution system with hurricanes. Most of our 'grid' is underground.
65mph winds, the power doesn't go out.
70mph winds, it blinked a bit and went off for 30 seconds. Then they worked on it.
It's all about the trees and poles. Fixed.
Live test: 75-78mph winds!
Not a blink!
Practice, fix, practice again. We learn. Stuff works.
The stuff is bulletproof until they have to cut power to people's houses that have 3' of water in them.
Power isn't as important by then:rolleyes:.

Cold. In the 30's. It has been raining so long I think there is a Jewish guy down the street building a boat. Supposed to be like this all week with snow on Wednesday. This is when you don't mind working from home.

A little snow, no more than an inch, calm winds and overcast. It will likely be gone by sundown.

Been listing to the sound of thunder for an hour... Weatherman says I'll have thunderstorms/severe weather for most of the night. From the weather radar I know I'll lose satellite tv/internet soon, be intermittent through the rest of the night.

A tropical air mass is pouring into the state... going to be a bumpy night.

Edit to add... the temp on my porch this afternoon was 68 degrees. I just check again, it's now 74 degrees and the sun has been down an hour. Yep, thunder will rattle some windowpanes tonight.

LOL, hard to find time any more to go camping, even without the 8-10 hour drive.

I get that. But didn't realize yall were that far away,we were going to join the IRV2 camp club where members camped on other members property but then we sold our camper.now a days it may be good to have a place to go since camp grounds are full.Since we've known most here for last 10 years not afraid of yall.

Tornado Watch issued for much of my state until 1am. The weather is wrong to produce large supercell tornados. This kind of weather sometimes produces EF-1's and 2's, still nasty if you take a direct hit.

"Tis the season!" has a much different meaning around here...

Guess I'll be up for a while!

My goodness Peanut its not tornado season is it? I didn't know they come in winter too.Be careful.:huggs:

They happen in every month of the year in these parts. There is a tornado on the ground right now in Mississippi. The current path will take it south of me by at least 15 miles.

Correction... Now the storm that contained the tornado (no longer on the ground) is following a traditional track... dead center on me... Still 30 minutes away, lot can change in that amount of time.

Hope you don’t flood. Get the dogs in and birds covered. Hang on tight.

I didn't know this! Guess I never paid it much attention but thought they were more seasonal.

Snow..................blah. Went to town yesterday to pick up a few things in anticipation. We're supposed to have 3" to 6", so not too bad.

I will be hiding in the house all day, lol.

16* with wind gusts up into the low 40's mph this morning.
Don't know how much snow we got because the wind moved it into very nice piles. Guessing I would say maybe 4" of snow.
Wind blew all the snow off the solar panels so I don't have to brush it off.
Will likely get below zero here tonight.
Really looking forward to summer.
