Tornado #2 was waaaaay too close!!! It was less than 2 miles from me when it lifted. It was close enough for me to feel the surface winds changing in my yard as the vortex went by. It got a mile past me when it fell apart, poof! It was gone. Way tooo close for comfort.

I had herded my parents into their mud room, mom couldn’t walk down the stairs, dad and I couldn’t carry her. I have a great storm room with cinderblock walls, which has poured concrete with rebar. Lot of good it does them now.

It did a lot of damage in the city of Gordo. News is saying people are trapped in buildings...

The front isn’t past me yet but there’s a little gap in the supercells… hope that gap passes over me. Things are about to get nasty SE of Birmingham this evening. It looks really bad for those folks.

Looks like @snappy1 is out of the severe threat! Sure looked pretty rough passing over her town earlier! Be safe @Peanut !!
A big wedge tornado came pretty close to us. Tore up a lot of trees and some buildings in Progress where I used to live right across from the store I worked at. Then did a lot of damage to the Tylertown area. It was rough!
Got 4.5" of rain.

Death toll rises from storms, tornadoes on Friday night

Eleven of the deaths happened in Missouri with six reported at several campgrounds in Wayne County, according to CNN. Another fatality was confirmed by Missouri State Highway Patrol in Jefferson County as well as the deaths of three people in the Bakersfield area of Ozark County.

In Butler County, Missouri, another person died when a tornado struck a mobile home park near Poplar Bluff, located about 100 miles east of Bakersfield, WSILTV reported. Authorities there also reported that buildings in the city were significantly damaged, including a supermarket and a kindergarten facility.

At least three people were killed in Independence County, Arkansas, and dozens more were injured due to severe weather in the northern part of the state. Crashes were reported near Rolla, Missouri.

"For your safety, please avoid the area and allow first responders to do their job. I-44 and MO 72 are impacted, with debris causing closures. Power lines are down—DO NOT drive over them," Corporal Raclicia Tyler with Missouri State Highway Patrol said in a release.

prayers for all in the path of these storms. my sister in MO made it thru, shes up in the hills but had winds 50-60mph--tore up her greenhouses and stuff. theres 2 trailers on her property and she said they prayed all night long, never been thru a storm like that and hopes it doesnt happen again.

Glad she made it through.

We have had some winds and rain- not like y’all! There was snow on the mountains around us.

Golly, I keep thinking about moving to the MO/ARK areas and then remember tornadoes like it there too. I guess your sister will be cleaning up the next while. What happened to the trailers? When we first moved to Texas, for the first three years or so, my extended family was texting or calling us when doom was imminent, asking if we were okay. It was close a few times.
Are you out towards the west coast, jazzy?

the trailers survived intact, she and hubby live in one and her son lives in the other. they prayed alot, their homes were safe but the stuff in the yard areas tore up. they are grateful as its things they can fix. the power of the storm kinda shocked them, never had that happen before.

i live in CO mountains. ive lived in the flat lands and mid south before with tornados and earthquakes . i like the mountains better. less noisy. at least for now, lol. who knoes these days.

prayers for all to be covred and kept safe.

Yeah, I can't hardly imagine to be there in person. I just was looking at the news feed of tornado damage in Missouri, Mississippi, wildfires, dust storms, winter storm warnings going on. This is a lot at one time for this country.
  • At least 34 people have died across Missouri, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Mississippi as powerful storm systems sweep through the Midwest and South.
  • The storms have left hundreds of thousands of customers without power, injured 29 people in Arkansas and caused fatalities linked to wildfires in Oklahoma.
  • Nearly 9 million people are under tornado watches, including in Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee. Another 82.8 million are covered by wind advisories, particularly in the middle of the country.
  • More than 20 severe weather reports were logged by this afternoon. The severe weather threat is expected to persist into the evening, with storms moving eastward and reaching the East Coast by tomorrow.
