Tomorrow we'll have the rest of the shrimp, bbq ribs, cole slaw and more oven fries

Over-thinking everything as usual.
I've never heard of putting shrimp in the oven, @WVDragonlady . Are you broiling them?

nope @Patchouli . just bake them for 15 mins in a 425 oven. such an easy way to make them and they turn out perfect

I thought I’d try Alton Browns approach to wings. My large rice cooker has a Steam function on it.

I steamed the wings for 10 minutes, they are almost cooked at that point. A good coating of a butter vinegar mix and ranch dressing seasoning then another 14 minutes in the air fryer. They turned out well.

What’s a collage bowl game without wings?

@Patchouli , you could but I don't. I think it helps keep them juicier and part of the fun of eating shrimp is the peeling and getting icky fingers to lick lol

Coat shrimp with oil ( I use olive oil) and Old Bay ( or your favorite seasoning) seasoning. Mix well. Place on sheet pan in one layer. Bake at 425 for 15 mins.
Its that easy. I never steam them anymore. This is much better to me

Someone gave me store bought fruit cakes, I will give them away.
When you have the real fruit cake hot from the oven, no cheap imitation will do.
They meant well, I am not insulted, but I will still give them away.

For Christmas, the company I work for hands out Costco Hams or $20 Safeway Gift Cards. We always get the ham.

After Christmas dinner, we freeze the ham bone and scraps, then on New Years Eve, we cook up a big pot of Ham and Beans.

Many years ago… amusing now but at the time most annoying… Just out of the Navy, went to work repairing Catscans in Buffalo NY.

My new employer sent out gift certificates to every employee for a Christmas bonus. A certificate worth $25 at the nearest “Honey Baked Ham” store.

Lots of stores in major cities across the country where most employees lived and worked.

Except for me… The nearest Honey Baked Ham store was 240 miles away in Pittsburgh PA. There was no internet or free shipping. To enjoy my Christmas bonus I would have to drive about 500 miles round trip (almost 2 tanks of gas), use up an entire day… for a $25 ham…

As far as I'm concerned that company still owes me a Christmas bonus!

Someone told me that they soak their beans all day and put them in their crockpot overnight. I did that, cooking northern beans with a ham bone, onions and seasoning. I woke up a few times in the night and could smell it. My original thought was that I was going to have bean soup for lunch, but no! I had some for breakfast. I know I will have it for dinner as well.

I soak mine in garlic water for a day at least..then slow cook it with bacon or ham bone..very very tasty...

I have soaked my beans for more than a day a few times, especially red skinned beans--kidney, etc. Garlic water? Never heard of it, but I could add a couple cloves of garlic. I never heard of or thought of that.

Making Mexican food to bring to my cousins for dinner. It'll be interesting keeping it warm. It's 17 out right now, will be colder tonight. No electricity over there. I think I'll put all the "serve warm" taco and burrito fixings in a pyrex pan so it can go in her oven when we get there. It'll be too cold for horse and buggy travel tonight, so that's why we're bringing dinner. ..our meal turn.

I love shrimp but quit eating it a few years ago. I did hear that there is a recall on precooked shrimp, so WVDragonlady, no worries for you and your family.

I recently saw someone else putting shrimp and lobster tails in the oven. I had never seen either cooked that way.

Hubby is fixing the gutters where they were pulled down slightly by the snow and ice last year now that he added more snowbirds to the roof.
We're both having lunch right now and I intend to get him in a chair out in the garage to cut his hair when he's finished. He's shaggy now and we can't have that lol He has meetings with dept heads and architects and inspectors during the week. He may be in work clothes but he's clean. I'm just glad he can get away with just a henley cuz theres no way I could get him in a sport coat lol
Been going through my huge amount of food magazines to make sure my name isn't on them anywhere so I can ditch them. I don't use them anymore and they're taking up space so they have to go. Tired of all the crap in the house.
Nothing on tv to watch and I did some reading
I have dishes to do after the hair cutting and I'll probably read some more
Its cloudy and windy but the temp is 54 outside supposed to get up to 60. The stove is off and I have a window in the back office open since its out of the line of the wind.
Get some fresh air in the house. Apparently its supposed to stay in the 40's during the daytime for the next 2 weeks. We'll see.

Broiled Sirloin,aspargus sauteed with olive oil, sliced garlic,green onions served with steamed rice, coffee.
Anything that is left will immediately go to crockpot for vegetable beef soup.
Lunch was leftover taco soup, with smoked turkey leftover from Thanksgiving.
Will have to cook fresh Thursday maybe.
Going go read a book called Sailing into Murder.

Bratwurst, sauerkraut, fresh green beans, potato salad, spanakopita, and red beans and rice. An assortment for dessert...leftover cake, some cookies, and fruit cake. Our neighbors, mom, and my cousin from town are coming to supper tonight. Favorite cousin just leaving for Indiana. I'll miss her.

Something new, I’ve never Stir-fried cabbage before. I used Chinese spices, miran, soy sauce and plenty of fresh garlic and ginger. It turned out good, yummy even.

Open faced London broil roast beast from the good deli and fresh Italian bread is always yummy.

I love stir fry cabbage! I made some a couple of days ago. I just used a little bacon grease for flavor, salt, garlic and pepper. Very good.
