What are you paying for gas?

Lol! You must be a youngster!
First gas I bought was 25.9 cents per gallon. Good ol' regular leaded gasoline:lil guy:.
It's all relative, I guess. I feel old when some of my current coworkers were in diapers when I started working...but compared to the average age of our peers in this forum, I'm probably still a spring chicken 😋

Yep. That will change as you age. I'm a little more brash.
If a cop is giving me a hard time, I ask: what year were you born?
I'm good at math. My reply:
"Do you know I had been driving on the roadway for 8 years when your parents copulated and conceived you? "
They know what conceived means, but the other word throws them for a loop. They are a 'cop' after all.o_O

Now you can see why I called myself an idiot for paying $1.99 back in post #62.
Maybe it will still be cheap in June:rolleyes:.
I looked at the post, but there were no name callings going on. Maybe you inferred it. You're not an idiot. You are hilarious though.
Yeah, maybe, but if DJT opens our world back up, ka-ching! prices will zoom right up.

Down here we hope so.
Idiot below:
Saw $1.89 down here today.
Too bad I filled up a week ago at the exorbitant price of $1.99View attachment 36881.
I expect it to hit $1.69 in 2-3 weeks.
(and here I sit with no room in my tank to put anygaah)

If you need gas, now is the time to buy it.
I saw on the news this morning that OPEC, Russia and others are cutting 10% of production to raise prices. They're cutting production for the next couple years.
Until demand rises it is not enough. I wish it would go up too, I am out of work because of it. Low prices do no good if you can't go anywhere.

Just a young'n. I remember being mad when gas went over $1.00.
So, who besides me remembers 'gas wars'?
When 2 stations across the road from each other would try to out-lower their prices to get all the customers?
It's like watching an auction in reverse.

As for the global price of oil affecting the price of US produced oil:
We are still a free market.
Refiners are free to choose the cheapest available oil whether it is foreign or domestic.
Likewise, if the price of oil is higher overseas, producers are free to export domestic produced oil.
There is little we can do about the price of oil while global demand is down 40%.

It follows the world pricing. We still import oil. We also export it. You cannot sell expensive oil on the open market if they can buy cheap oil elsewhere.

The prices to watch are Brent crude and wti (west texas intermediate)

Wti needs to get back to around $40 per bbl.

I don't know why we are still importing but my suspicion is we have been selling high and buying low. A lot of the oil giants are foreign owned. They will ship oil from here to fill their contracts.

Then you have varying grades of crude. The crude from north Dakota looks like dirty diesel it is so thin. You could pour it directly into a military tri fuel truck and run it. I am sure you have heard the term sweet crude. That is the premium of crude oil.

I do. This is why many states have a minimum markup that you have to sell it at.

Well, for all of the global-warming/climate-change zealots out there wanting us to reduce our 'carbon-footprint':
You got your wish!
Is this really how you want the world to be?

Even more:

Was $60 ,
now $32.75 ;
45%off 🤪 and nobody's interested?View attachment 36643
How cheap do you think they can make gasoline using $32 crude instead of $60 crude?
Crude oil prices dropped to $7.95 $5.05 per barrel today.
This is very not-good:(.
I love low prices as much as any tightwad, but this is overkill.
Possibilities of gas shortages by the end of the year = 100%.

I think the last time I was out it was $1.78 a gallon. That was about a week ago. It has been over a month since I filled up, and at the rate we are going it will be another month before I will need gas.
