"Journey, A Novel of America," by James M. Vesely

A story about a Czech (Bohemian) family who came to America. I am about 1/3 finished and enjoying the story. They are from Trebon, Czech. I have heard of that from a woman in my Czech genealogy group, but I don't have ancestors from there.

Still hating yall...but even more so today....i just pretended to be a drunken sailor.....something headed my way...been wanting a long time...i went a different route...hope i done well and it doesnt bite me in the rear...will show and tell in future.

but for now....grrrrr..to you other book nerds ...i blame yall....no way i am taking blame.
I am now the proud owner and i have in my possession the original foxfire books hardback edition volumes original book with no number then 2-7 and they are like new and show zero wear...pretty good for back in 70's. i have other volumes but i think #8 was last hardcover edition they published.

anyway...life is great and i done well.

Just picked up a couple books. One is a classic I've never read, The Portrait of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. I'm looking forward to this one for sure. Need to go back and read a bunch of the classics.

The other book is The Things our Fathers Saw, by Mattew A. Rozell. It's Volume 1-3. I think the series is a 10 volume set. The series is based on in person interviews with WWII survivors. Each book is a different area during the war.
Volume 1: Voices of the Pacific Theater
Volume 2: The Untold Stories of the World war II Generation from Hometown, USA. The War in the Air, From Depression to Combat
Volume 3: The Untold Stories of the World war II Generation from Hometown, USA. The War in the Air, Combat, Captivity, and Reunion.
This series should be fantastic. Most likely will be adding more of the series to the Christmas list the wife told me to make.

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen was the movie. And for the life of me I can't recall who she was. She was a cutie for sure.

Peta Wilson; she reminds me of a young Belinda Carlisle; both pretty.
As usual I've several books on the go for studies, mainly about Irish history / social history. 'Light' reading is The Plague, by Albert Camus. Haven't read it before, its one of my 'must read sometime' classics.

What was her character in the movie? I can't recall that either. And I know I should
Mina Harker....she was Darians old girlfriend....scorned lover....one of the reason she showed him the picture in the end.

There are a few movies made about this. The most recent one had Colin Firth in it. I am a big fan of him and his work, so I have seen that version. I have tried to see everything that he is in. There is also a movie about Oscar Wilde, and Colin Firth is in that as well. Oscar Wilde led a crazy life!

I visited the graves of Oscars step sisters, who were sort of hidden away. Sad story, their dresses caught fire after a party and they were both badly injured, dying a short while later. This is the newish gravestone, theres an old one also.
