I am assuming you are talking about an Australian Blue (or Red) Heeler.
I didn't know anything about heelers at the time and I thought that was normal. I learned later that it was not. I was actually afraid to walk past that dog's kennel for fear it would get out! I don't think I have ever been that afraid of a dog before.
A family member had a pit bull that scared me.

I have been chased by pit bulls, but never really afraid of them.
I had one that chased me on a bike trail once. I saw him chasing a girl that was on foot and I rode my bike between them and made him chase me instead. Once I got some distance from him he broke off the chase and I stopped and called 911. On the way back I was ready for him. I picked up a big stick and whacked him over the head as hard as I could which made him break off the chase.

Timber shepherd. They're smart, loyal, can herd livestock with training, and seem to know instinctively if you don't like someone, and woe be unto the dumb flocker who walks in on one after hours! their bite is second only to a pit bull!

It’s hard to beat a Shepard rather it be a German Dutch or Belgian
I got Rooster (a Dutch Belgian cross) as a pup raised him up around the kids and critters he’s very protective over the kids Anytime we have visitors and the kids are outside he always stays in between the kids and the visitor. Earlier this year I had a guy come to the house to buy some rabbits and Rooster done as he always has stayed close. As I and said guy are standing there shooting the bull the guy for whatever reason switched from my right side to my left side with my oldest son about 20ft to my left Rooster came out of nowhere growling barking till the guy moved and he calmed right down.
The guy proceeded to cuss me and saying how I needed to control my dog After sitting the guy back in his car I told him it’s time for him to leave and never show his face here again. Rooster was just doing what he was trained to do
