There's no beef or toilet paper to be had on-line with the major supermarket chains.
Zero toilet paper at all at one store.
I had to spread my grocery order over two chains to get eggs, veggies, dog food,....managed to snag a 12 pack of toilet rolls...for a price.
MEAT...geeze....I found what I had previously thought was a outrageously priced boutique butcher in town that delivers.
Seems they are cashing in and their prices now seem reasonable compared to the out of stock prices at the supermarkets.
I brought on-line and for delivery -
3 large blade roasts.
1 'pandemic pack' -
Pandemic Pack
1.5kg Lamb Leg
1kg Steak Sandwich Rib Fillet
1kg Chicken Thigh Fillet
1kg Pork Shoulder Chops
1kg Gourmet Rissoles
1kg Diced Beef
1kg Mince
1kg BBQ Sausages
1kg American Ribs |
this has a surprising amount in it....beef ,lamb, pork, chicken.
The total came to over $180 and the fact that it was actually available and there wasn't buy limits made me
so relieved.
Update:
We had some teething problems because this was the first time using this service and I didn't realise that they put the credit card transaction through when they finish putting the order together and it's ready to deliver NOT when I make the order on-line....so the funds weren't immediately deducted from my balance.
It made me think there were more funds in my account than there was so I went ahead and brought some dvd box sets.
They rang me to say the transaction had been declined.
Thankfully there was enough funds left in the account to get the 'pandemic pack'
but I had to remove the blade roasts from the order.
The meat, when it was delivered, was awesome as you would hope and expect when you're paying that much.
The chicken was missing in the order because the shop had run out but they assured me that it would be delivered
today for no extra charge.
Grocery supplies are stupid low atm and on-line ordering is problematic.
You put what few items you can find in your on-line cart and you press 'checkout'
and POOF 3/4's of your order disappears!
It doesn't tell you which items are missing so you have to click - continue shopping to see
what has been taken out and try to figure out what else they say is in stock or trying a smaller amount...
and around and around you go.
This happened with the two grocery chains that deliver.
I managed to snag a 12 pack of toilet paper that actually stayed in my cart when I hit checkout
and a lamb roast, a tiny pack of oyster blade steak <- you don't want to know the price I paid for THAT
eggs and 2 5kg bags of bread flour and grain free dog food for the land shark.
I was pretty worried about the dog food because it isn't the brand she normally eats and if her allergies react to it
it's another trip to the vet ..this time it'll be while she's out of her damned hormonal false pregnancy mind.
I don't have a muzzle for her and she's going to try to eat the vet.
No doubt eating the vet would cause her allergies to flair up even more...<--half kidding.
