I just bought 16 pounds of catchup, and was wondering what other tomato products I could purchase, when I suddenly remembered I get a lot of that for free every month.
It's sad because it's happening slowly enough that the "sheep" don't notice how bad things are already! Yes, people are getting "used" to empty shelves! The term "new normal" was embedded in their little minds so much during the fabricated pandemic that anything that is happening long enough becomes ok!! It will be interesting to see how surprised the sheeple are when the shtf!!Today I hit 2 stores trying to get things on the wife's list:
But, before I get to that I want to say that it is alarming how things are emptying out or how stores like W-m are reducing the space for food within their stores, they are constantly re-arranging to avoid having the empty shelf space. What alarms me about all this is how we are being conditioned to accept the empty spaces, it's no big deal anymore and that is scary.
Back to today. In the produce department they were low as usual (under 50% of the spaces had produce, but they had some cooking carrots). There was a nice lady stocking green onions, I asked her how often they get shipments, every day. She then told me that they order stuff and are told it is not available or there will be a few day delivery delay, she said it was happening on anything that was not being provided by local growers.
The unexpected shortages were in simple things, lemon juice (use it a lot canning tomatoes) was just gone, then the instant pudding was low and butterscotch was just not available, I went on line and finally ordered some at $5 a box!
I fear that we are only a few months away from having major food shortages and the world is just ignoring it.....
It shouldn't bother me, but my internal alarm bells on supply issues for everything are just driving me crazy....

It kind of proves the overlords aren't going to give back what they stole, in fact are planning to do it again. Famines by fall, riots by spring!Today I hit 2 stores trying to get things on the wife's list:

The issue is not just supply side. Take a look at the velocity of money! It kind of proves the overlords aren't going to give back what they stole, in fact are planning to do it again. Famines by fall, riots by spring!
Was in one last week- gorgeous, almost new and spotless woollen blankets only €5! I told them to charge more - I had no money on me, (was doing a drop off) otherwise would have stocked up.You ought to see the pawn and thrift shops here bro, a man with a grand and storage could make out like a thief!
I love wool anything, but so do the moths. I've lost many things to moths: room sized rugs, blankets, sweaters, socks, coats, mittens. Was in one last week- gorgeous, almost new and spotless woollen blankets only €5! 'Internal Alarm bells' - I wouldn't be the type to overreact- but, like you have a strange feeling. Big discussion with NY inlaws about fuel etc here, and shortages, and I said how I feel people don't realize, and the gov are being very quiet, to my mind. My feeling was they are ignoring it too, or - they are behind the scenes panicking because they know more than we do. Anyway this morning one of the gov agencies announced they are preparing emergency plans for shortages and elec cuts. Spending tonight looking at accounts and tomorrow think I'll buy more coal.Today I hit 2 stores trying to get things on the wife's list:

Ok YOU got my attention! Thank you!@UrbanHunter about the lemon juice…I was worried about that being a possibility that I ordered citric acid to use instead.
I hate to say it, but the price of heating oil will go nuts just about the end of November/be in short supply food and electricity will be much higher, the grid will begin to fail and they should prepare to use multiple heat sources. Might want to convince them to move to Miami SOON!'Internal Alarm bells' - I wouldn't be the type to overreact- but, like you have a strange feeling. I burn both firewood and wood pellets. Was told the same this past March. Bought over three tons at Lowes at the annual spring clearance sale. It is indeed more profitable for pellet suppliers to ship to Europe for the electric plants over there I have been told. Bought my 1st pellet stove back in 1998, back when it was only popular on the west coast, 99 a ton back then. My supply should cover me for the next two heating seasons.I spoke to someone who works for the industry of wood pellets. I don't know anything about them, but he said if you know anyone who burns them, tell them to stock up now.....like right NOW. Apparently Russia isn't selling them to us anymore and our stock is getting shipped to Europe......so supply here is going to tank. If it's available, get it now before it's gone OR before the price skyrockets.
I told a couple of people who are going to check with their suppliers. I told them if nothing else, at least they'll be well stocked. If this prediction pans out, they can sell their pellets for a profit if they can store them, but it'll be money in the bank either way.
I'm glad we don't use wood pellets, but it seems like this crap is hitting everyone, no matter what you use for heat.
The UK news this morning is saying Russia has cut gas supplies, again, to Europe. I'm guessing if I wanted to ruin the world I'd be doing it in drip-feed style; tightening things little by little, causing uncertainty before the winter. The fear of something happening is worse than the actual deed, if that makes sense. Seems to be what the Russian gov are doing. All spring our gov were dismissing reports of possible blackouts here- and yet, here we are. Will we face electricity shortages in Ireland this winter?
That's just the basic report, some other papers are going a little overboard. It occurs to me
I can't put batteries in my wifi box; which will cause problems for my daughter who works from home if the elec goes. Noticed a lot of empty spots in Lidl yesterday, but their deliveries may not have arrived as I was in early. Huge price increases on coffee.
Yes @elkhound she was on the news last night. Part of the problem was when she switched providers (her old one left the country I think) she wasn't automatically put on the same tariff. Moral of the story is log in monthly and check your account. Below is a screen shot of mine showing last year also. March and April involved lots of kettle boiling, methinks.
Despite me studying from home and my daughter working from home we've got it down, but at that having chatted to a few locals with similarly aged families its not too bad. There are 6 adults here.

Dave's bread was made by the bread god because beer was causing trouble. :O Great stuff, I could just grill it by itself!I looked around there for sales or any good buys, and didn't see any. I did get a couple of pkgs of chicken legs, husband's hard to find yogurt, his favorite Dave's bread, and he wanted hummus. Wouldn't do my regular shopping there, I'll go to Aldi.
