I really don't know because it would depend on so many things. I think the two main options would be hide or fight. This is a big country and there are a lot of areas that are "the middle of now where" that might be good places to be because it wouldn't be worth going after you. The other option would be to reenact "Red Dawn," I guess and start our own insurgency. I'm trying to imagine how we get into this scenario. An invasion of a country this size is not going to be a quick thing; lots of people will die on both sides before we lose the war. Also, what political or other entity is the de facto government (holds the monopoly on the "legitimate" use of violence) and is thus the target of our insurgent attacks? Or is it basically a free-for-all of some sort with a lot of groups participating in the invasion, and maybe dividing up the country into various areas controlled by different armies, so there are a lot of little "governments"? I do think it's a good idea to consider various possibilities and what some of the responses could be.
I can think of a gazillion scenarios for SHTF, but I doubt a foreign invasion....unless it was by subterfuge from inside our government.

Isoroku Yamamoto (Commander in Chief of the Imperial Navy during WWII) said: "If we invade the American mainland....there will be a rifle behind every blade of grass."

Our enemies know this. In the U.S., everybody and their mother owns a gun. So many people own multiple guns, that even people without guns will get guns.

The only flaw in my reasoning that I can see is that there seem to be a lot more sheeple than I remember from the past, so perhaps our collective apathy is factored into the invasion plans.

The Yamamoto quote is disputed (can't prove he didn't say it, but there is inadequate documentation)

However Commander Robert Menard of the USS Constellation said that in 1960 he asked an (unnamed) Japanese Admiral why the Japanese had not invaded California after Pearl Harbor.

His response was not as pithy as the one attributed to Yamamoto: "We did indeed know much about your preparedness. We knew that probably every second home in your country contained firearms. We knew that your country actually had state championships for private citizens shooting military rifles. We were not fools to set foot in such quicksand."

I agree. But the original post on this thread asked about this scenario, so I was considering possibilities.
