Yesterday we went into town for medical appointments for DH and to get the results back from his back scan which shows he has further osteoarthritis in his back and in the areas they operated on which isn't good. I also picked up some scripts for my thyroid medication and beta blockers. We then went to get some x-rays on DH's shoulders done to see what is going on there but the doctor said it is likely that he has further osteoarthritis there too but I wanted it checked to see there were no further injuries.

Went to the supermarket and picked up the last few items on our shopping list for Christmas and filled up 6 jerry cans of fuel with a gift card we purchased earlier. Back home and put the fuel and groceries away. Pretty much relaxed for the rest of the afternoon.

So far this today I have deep cleaned the bathroom and toilets and DH has vacuumed the whole home. We went to the RSL for our date afternoon and had a few soft drinks and I have just finished trench composting the vegetable scraps from the kitchen.

Shortly we will make the bed with clean sheets, fold up 3 loads of washing and put it away and wash the dishes, clean the benches and wipe up the dishes and put them away.

Don't come on here for a day and miss out on so much news  .

Been so incredibly hot here so we are not getting a lot accomplished until later in the evening when it is cooler in the gardens. Air conditioning being installed in a week or two with one unit in the lounge room and one in the bedroom but we will only turn the one on in the lounge room for about an hour later in the afternoon and for an hour in the bedroom before we go to sleep to cool the room down enough.

@Patchouli glad you are visiting daughter and grandson and enjoy those cuddles :) .

@Amish Heart hope you have recovered well after the dentist and are not in too much pain :) .

@LadyLocust hope you are feeling better now and if not rest up until you aren't :).

@Spikedriver lovely you sing carols and the elderly get a visit from the kids singing too them and their eyes light up when they hear the singing too :).

@phideaux hope your pain and energy levels with the knee are getting better and your mobility has improved :).

I guess it's a good thing that we all have each other here to share our concerns, with health problems, and family isuues .
Seems that most of us have them.
That's life I suppose...but for me... I am happy to have folks to talk to about them.

And I do try to be compassionate about all your, issues as your compassionate about mine.

Thank all of you for you patience about my ramblings about my knees.
Most people now see this big , major surgery as just another routine surgery.... it's my..
It's a BIG surgery.

Today I'm staying in, PT coming today , I completely ran out of pain meds Wednesday night. Didn't realize how much I still needed them till last night...
OMG up walking the floor all night.
UPS will be bringing new meds today.

Wife will be going for her RA clinic by herself today.

Getting old ain't for wimps.

Running out of feel-good pills is not good. I hope that brown truck shows up on time!

Stay strong brother, soon this discomfort will be memory.

Thanks @Sentry18 ,
Being a 100% VA patient does have its drawbacks, it takes 24 hrs to get meds. I should have ordered sooner.
They are out for delivery.
I thought I was at a point that I didn't need them anymore...it took 24 hrs for me to realize I still have some deep healing pain, being 4 weeks from surgery.

Maybe another week or 2, I will try getting off again.

Daytime ain't too bad , night time is BAD.

Jim

I hope that's all it is, @phideaux
My warning about pain meds sucks. I had a tooth that had cracked down into the gum and needed to be pulled. The dentist referred me to a particular oral surgeon who would normally rather fix, than pull, but this tooth couldn't be saved.
The oral surgeon referred me to a place that could pull my tooth, all of this in one day.
In the meantime, the dentist and oral surgeon had both given me a script for same pain meds.
I got the tooth pulled under a shot of novacaine. I chose no other pain relief, it wasn't so bad. Tooth was pulled. This place also gave me a prescription for the same medication. We got one prescription filled. I took one on the way home, one before bed, next day decided not to take anything. I had no swelling.
Strangely, I started developing withdrawal symptoms in my LEGS as if I were a heroin addict. It took a couple days to fight that off but in the meantime, my tooth problem was FINE. It hurt in my legs so bad and I did research on that and yes, it was a symptom of withdrawal from addiction to this particular pain medication. After only 2 pills I had become addicted. I'll never take it again unless I'm in stage 4 cancer.
It was oxycodone.

Thanks @Patchouli , I have heard that before. I do believe everybody reacts in different ways to to narcotics.
I just went thru this cycle of meds , oxycodone, back in August , I stopped them when my pain allowed me to, without any consequences.
Now ...that being said.. I can not take Hydrocodone. It causes me many problems.

Wow 6! I think I'd like to be under for 6. My "dentist hate" comes from the gum surgeries I've had. They would cut open the gum area and filled it with artificial bone. Then stitch and cast it. They'd do half of my mouth at a time. Horrible healing. I just got to the point I didn't want anyone messing with my teeth. The dentist this time was a good one, but I always stress like mad before going.

Tryst but verify ' term I use often these days'. I ask them dr.s andentist whats up. Then do reserach, they don't like me but I'm not there to mske friends.
I tell them they want ot know every little detail of body and paint work on their autos in our body shop we had. Yet I'm suppose to just turn over my health with no questions ask. Some get mad.
Had 2 wisdom teeth vut out couple years ago. No fun but one had a cavity so dr said don't need them anyway so I let him take em. Still have 2 that I wish I had of gotten out when I had the chance at clinic, now it is going to cost me.

Finishing up the last of my errands here this morning.
Then I have to make my hubby a cherry pie for our 39th anniversary.
He bought me 10 oz of shiny metal to add to my collection. He knows I don't want jewelry but still like the shiny metal part lol
Making shrimp and fries and slaw for supper since he likes it so much
After saturday we have hubby's eye surgery on the 23rd. Then doctor's appointment the 24th for the doctor to check his eye and then we'll have a nice quiet Christmas
I still have to make a decoration for on the front gate. More than likely do it saturday since it'll be up in the low 40's and not in the teens like today lol
Seems like everyone else here is busy health wise this month. Lots going on. Hope all do well.

WV Lady, Hubby and I will be marired 42 years this Christmas Eve after dating for 3 years.

Hope you two hqve a good one.

Gt well soon Jim. And be careful :huggs:.Pain pills can be cunning and decieving.

Had a great morning throwing softball with hubby. I had to be careful since vision is not good and kinda judge timing of ball but I was a great player for about 45 ye.s years off and on so I did ok. I still have a really good arm!:woo hoo:I was cleaning out my closet and found our glove's and ball. Mine has always had a ball wrapped in it keeps it open. I haven't played since 50 but have tught grands and great grand kids how to throw and catch. Last was 7 yo. great grand son 5 year ago. Playe in first leaque in 1976, last co ed in 2000. Hubby can' bend alot so I made sure to aim well. Plus we had our dog that could retrieve if we missed which we didn't.
Its hard not being able to drive so fwlt good being out for fun instead of always WORK!!Burn out on that all work and no play crapola.:gardening:

@Terri9630 has she ever worn a continuous blood glucose monitor? If not, perhaps it could give a clue as to what changes are going on, and if there's any triggers that precede it. I'm sure maybe one of your docs has thought of it, but...if not, it might be something to discuss with them...

Not yet. Her new endo mentioned it as an option but she wanted to do some bloodwork first. We are going in for 16hr fasting bloodwork Monday and then back to the Dr Jan 6th to see what she says. I have the report from the eye Dr to give all her specialists so they will be aware.

Sorry about the kid Terri, a sick child is the worse. Hope y'all can get good results and soon.

Thanks Meerkat. She's finally old enough that this stuff is worrying her too.

Bless her heart. So much for a child to go through.:huggs:Hubby has a brother that has had it rough too all his life, no chilhood mucjh at all had ot have all his bones broke and reshaped,, then heart, and brain surgery little over year ago. but has made it to 65 when dr.s said he woul not live ot be 30. So there is always hope ..all 7 great health but him 'Marphans ' Lincoln had it in milder form.

Yesterday, Took DH to Rheumatologist about 70 miles away. If VA approves it, they will do a newer infusion twice a year on him. Wait and see.

I don't recall if the last time I wrote, our flood insurance issue was resolved or not. This is what happened: After first visit to banker lady who is helping us, it was resolved and we received a letter saying that flood insurance was not required as the residence itself is not in a flood zone. A week later we received another letter acknowledging that they had sent us a letter but are now saying that flood insurance is required (again). Went back to bank and she called the mortgage company --again. They said they had to review info and would call back--never did. Today, back to the bank and she called for us again and we were told that they had to review the info (again) and make a decision. Before we went to bank this morning, I checked my loan info online and the mortgage company had force placed flood insurance complete with policy number. Our banker friend finally got someone in the loan dept. - instead of flood insurance- and we were told it should be resolved by the end of the year. Yikes! I know God is in control and am so thankful for our friend at the bank that originated our loan! Otherwise, I think we would have been bulldozed- so to speak! Still don't know the outcome but not worried.

In other news, DH's COPD is getting a little worse so we made the decision to re-home our 2 female pygmy goats back to the lady they came from. They are coming to get them in the morning. It will help us financially and maybe let me get a little more rest!

Tomorrow, I intend to go for my walk, send goats to new home and make Orange Fig Jam with more figs that I found in the freezer... and rest!

@phideaux Give yourself a break Jim. You are used to going and doing and this is the second spell in a relatively short period of time that you've been "cooped up." Take peace knowing you'll have the family to harass and enjoy over the holiday and that really by spring when you will have things you want to do out and about, you'll be able to do them. I know that probably doesn't reeeeally help right now, but wishing you peace and happiness. And I very much agree. It's nice to have a group of reasonably like minded folks to share with. I appreciate y'all too.
@lonewolf I'm not sure whether to be anxious for you, worried for you, scared for you. . . . wishing you the best regardless of the outcome.
@Patchouli The things we learn about each other - no worries though. I won't hold it against you because you were an addict :D. That really must have been awful though- wow.
@Terri9630 Hope you already know it, but big prayers for kiddo.
@Meerkat That is awesome! I'm not sure I would remember how to throw a ball anymore. Chuck a rock maybe, but probably not throw a ball.
@snappy1 Glad you've got someone looking out for you. I despise how bureaucracy and big business can affect real people's lives.
@Peanut Hope you are getting some rest. Being in pain and helping those in pain can be exhausting.

Lady Locust, it was a reminder to me that doctors know all too well what they are prescribing. However, I did have that as a pain reliever 2 other times, both times did not get addicted and was using as needed post-surgical. Who can explain how that happened, after only 2 doses? It had set me up. No thanks.

I added spell check and it made things worse, it kept erasing lettters as I tried to correct. So I'm taking this nice and easy with my eyes 6 inch from keys. So I will just have to take longer to stop typo's. Buy not too long because leaning over this keyboard kills my neck.Seeing eye dr. in 3 weeks.
I apologize for such terrible spelling and error's.

@MoBookworm1957 please do share pictures. I've seen the typical granny square afghans, but not a Dresden. You have me curious if it's similar to a Dresden quilting design.
Happy Anniversary @WVDragonlady !

Finally found a sniffer that lets me breathe through my nose so just woke from a 2+ hr. nap. Wow! Can't believe how struggling for air can wear a person out.
Yes, ma'm.
I often use quilt patterns in knitting and crochet patterns.
I also use children's coloring books as quilt patterns too.

I've been working to finish a new home for two retired school teachers from Western Kansas. We had our walk through this morning and they loved it they were supposed to close on Monday they were so happy with it they wanted to close today which we did. They had nothing on there punch list but I had a few things that I wasn't quite happy with on mine so when the boy got out of school we went and spent a couple hours making things like I expect them to be. It's so wonderful to work with down to earth people every once in awhile!

Didn't get the washing folded or dish washing done last night but instead did them today.

Still really hot day at 40 oc so not a lot else accomplished and we mainly stayed indoors and in the afternoon had our fan on to keep us a little cool. Will put some groceries away tonight that we purchased being mainly staples. The RSL gave us a pantry hamper even though we said we were right but President insisted saying he had one left so we took it home as we are sure it is his way of thanking us for all the help we give the club which we love to do anyway.

Our pays came in so I transferred an extra payment off the mortgage, banked more money into savings and transferred money into our bills acc and groceries acc and balanced up the books to reflect payments.

I have filled up the kangaroo and wallaby water and watered the gardens with the garden dripper system from the town water. Kangaroos and wallabies look like they are rationing the water we are giving them to last the day. Yesterday they drank about 11 litres of water and today 4 litres.

Dinner was a help yourself night.

Here is what is going on in Australia with the bush fires and none of them are near me thankfully and doesn't look like any near @Tank-Girl either thank goodness - https://www.9news.com.au/national/b...fire-day/1aa8244a-eb15-46e9-b43b-a4e5545f64d6 .

Praying for those who have lost loved ones and many homes lost as well in multiple fires. I have a few friends who I know who have evacuated their homes with fires near them though.

@lonewolf not been following Brexit so keep us up to date on what happens.

We have a busy day ahead of us. Christmas dance competition tonight for my two ballerinas; which means rehearsals, hair & make up, photos, closed door performances, and eventually stage competitions. My wife will be a manic stage mother while I try and keep the other kids alive, run costumes back and forth, pick up flowers to throw on stage, take lots of pictures, and try not to get too much glitter on myself. Plus I am sure there will be at least 3 major crisis which will turn out not to be major crisis after all. Eventually this will result in a 75-90 minute performance that I will watch approx. three times today. My older dancer does ballet, tap, and jazz while my younger dancer does ballet, pom (cheer-leading), and hip-hop. The older dancer tends to win these things and is very serious about her dancing. The younger dancer is just a pure performer who enjoys the audience and the theatrics. She wins less awards but has 10x more fun. They both love it, as does their Momma who was once a little and not-so-little ballerina herself.
