Actually had a decent day. Very relieved at the election results, it's like a cloud has lifted. Used my lunch break to go get a load of gravel for the greenhouse area, and it was so nice out I just grabbed the shovel and started unloading, instead of going back in to work. Then my brother rolled in to work on the generator gas line so instead of just a long lunch, I called my boss and asked for the afternoon off.
The gas line is DONE! Oh, my, that's another cloud lifting...now I just have to get an electrician to do the transfer switch.

Fortunately I live in a state where the government doesn't inspect our vehicles. Is it just a leaking seal? If it is it shouldn't be to hard to replace.
My list of equipment that needs repairs keeps growing. Even more so now that it's getting colder.
I don't mind the inspections really all that much. It's all safety stuff. I don't want people driving around with bad breaks. Our car insurance is half of what it was in Florida here

It's probably more than that , it always is. We already had this fixed last year at some place but now it is leaking again. Probably good they caught it but it's always bad timing
I reserved a rental truck just in case ( can cancel the day before) . Sometimes I wonder if it would be cheaper to just rent a truck instead of owning it. I think if this one really breaks to where it is not fixable ( like the frame rusts through and can't be fixed) we might just do that. We get a load of hay ( square bales) a few times a year, take animals to auction and meat processing and take the stupid Ranger to the repair shop, and occasionally get large pieces of wood at the home depot. If we combine trips we could probably spend around $3000 a year for rentals and not own this truck . We spent that much on insurance, repairs, taxes every year
We are already renting a car anytime we go on a longer trip like visiting daughter at the beach.

today after animal care I am baking some dessert for our club meeting tomorrow
plus clean bathroom and kitchen which I didn't get to yesterday
We really have a lot more free time now that the market is over and there is no gardening to do either. Waiting on some more parts to finish the solar setup but husband and son are doing that mostly.
What do all of you that are retired do in winter?

0552, and I'm still in North Platte, Nebraska. I'm getting ready to leave the hotel to go to work. It's supposed to be rainy and chilly again today. To me, temps in the 30s/40s with rain are the worst working conditions one can have. I'll take 20 below and dry, or 104 and humid, over chilly and wet.

Tomorrow is my last day out here. I'll be headed home to my new position tomorrow night. That job is scheduled to be 52 miles from home until the 17th of December, so it'll be a long commute but I'll be sleeping in my own bed every night. We're getting to the time of year when the railroads start winter layoffs so I don't know how long I can hold the job. It all depends on how greedy the CEO and the board of directors are, I guess. We made well over a billion in profits for the 3rd quarter this year, but they said it was disappointing...

Hmm...retired in the winter.... Sonya's question...
I do the butchering then. Need the colder weather for it. Indoor painting that needs it, although I might do a bit today since it's raining now and will all day long. I do the canning of things I threw in the freezer. I clean out closets, food storage, etc. I do alot more soup making and visiting.
