Good news is I slept .... first time since the fire.
Fire? when was this? How did I miss this post? Some days I'm so tired my mind runs on auto pilot, miss a lot of things. (its how i spilled the oil, doing something I wasn't mentally up for)

I got to do one of my favorite tasks today- read a contract 🙄. (Sarcasm folks, lots of sarcasm). I always read them. Don’t know if I’ve ever not altered one before signing.
Chilly here, rained most of the day. Wasn’t a super productive day.
Good news is I slept through the night last night for the first time since the fire.
Must have missed that. DId your house burn down or just a wildfire near you?

Son made a fire last night for the first time in a really long time ( since we had rain finally) . It's still dry so he put it out with a hose before going to bed ( or at least I told him to do that). We did something silly, had marshmallows on a stick like we used to when going on long camping trips when the kids were younger.

today we have to drop off the truck to get the axel fixed. I hope it makes it there without a problem. Husband should have just left it there last week, we can't drive it anyway with that leak and no inspection sticker.
Thinking about maybe going swimming but that is more driving...maybe not. We will see how we feel after animal care

It's cold out, might make a fire in the stove again today. DId not yesterday. I wouldn't mind if it stayed warmer, the weather has been nice here ( but too dry). Mostly sunny and around 70 or high 60s

We have an appt. next week with a new pulmonologist for DH. The one he has now is apparently mad at him. When he finished his IV antibiotics, the doc refused to let the nurse draw blood or get another sputum sample. As a result, DH is not feeling good already. Sigh

Already walked.
Going to town to look for a new(er) vehicle for me.
Walk dogs when we get back- maybe.

Took my truck to the tire place before 8am because I didn't like how the brakes were acting yesterday. Guy comes out and apologizes to me and tells me front passenger tire had crossthreaded nut, stud was broken. Rotor was jammed, brake pad was gone & caliper was pretty much destroyed. Wheelbearing on front driver side was about to fall off. Tires are so worn the wires are starting to show. The rotor being jammed explains the issues it had been having. I described what happened while driving and the lady there asked me if I had to pump the brake and I said "yes" and she told me why and I was told I was very lucky the brakes didn't just totally lock up on me and I was lucky the wheel didn't come off. Also, braking in the water the other night may have warped the calipers. So, need a new rotor, new wheelbearing, new stud (getting all 5 for that tire bc they are $2/ea and friend recommended replacing all if doing 1), new calipers, & new pads. Just had those pads done in August. Bleh. They were really good brake pads too. Having to get some generic ones bc that's what the nearest auto shop had in stock. There's an O'Reilly's in the same parking lot as the tire shop so employees walk over there to get stuff.

Had to call my brother to come pick me up since they said they can't even get the parts until after noon. Ordered new tires and scheduled time to have them put on when they come in.

Landline is out bc of the flooding so I'm waiting on that to be fixed.

Got the cat waterer for the kitchen taken apart and soaking to get it clean. They keep puking in it or dropping food in it & it starts to stink. It has some crevices where stuff gets stuck. None of my other waterers had that problem. Might get a different one-- but I do like the capacity of this one. Cats and dogs drink from it. Cats also use the fountain one on the counter near the sink.

Waiting to hear from my friend on progress of his house purchase. The one he wanted in town didn't go through bc the seller reneged after my friend paid for inspection/appraisal. Turns out it was worth way less and needed almost $30k worth of repairs. I was worried that the seller would back out but friend didn't think he would. But, friend found another property further out (but closer to his work). Brick house, roof replaced in 2018, septic tank drained & effluent pump motor replaced in August this year, 2 acres of land, double car port, a workshop, a barn, a storage shed, a little side yard for a garden, chicken pen, cute little water feature out front, and outside of city limits so no city taxes. It does get city water rather than using a well and fiber is available. Seller is nice and has a good reputation. One of the neighbors is related to the newly elected mayor, and a couple other neighbors are related to the owner of the local hardware store.

I popped into Walmart to look for sugar free cough drops for Mom-- no luck. Grabbed a Gatorade and bro got a southwest chicken wrap. Currently sitting at home waiting.

I'll just call that doc an asshat for you, Snappy. I don't care much for cursing, but he deserves it. We have met a few of those from time to time. Husband cancelled his first med appt before lunch today, for a biologic injection and talk with that doc, but they haven't done anything for him and he feels crappy. So we have the infectious disease doc in a bit here, and he's in it for more than a week on this iv antibiotic, and I don't think it's working. We'll see what she says. He just did a sputum I put in the fridge, so I'll probably put that on ice and drop it later. He's having a hard time even moving 5 ft. with the walker. Yesterday, he just rode the scooter down to the truck instead of the walker to the wheelchair. Not getting better.

Got up, ate some Aleve, worked out, stretched, sat in a hot tub, stretched more, got cleaned up, went to work, did some stuff, made some coin, went to the courthouse, went to a restaurant, bribed a waitress, ran a few errands, came home, found a small dog in the apartment, found out the girl is dog sitting for the day for someone who's pet based "day care" was full, pondered the stupidity of a pet based day care, reminded myself to never own a pet, stretched out some more, made some iced tea, sat down in the comfy chair with the aforementioned tea and my laptop, watched as this small ugly cat-size dog stares at me somehow not sensing that I am not interested in it being near me, and pondering how I need to go down and grill some chicken to have for dinner - presuming my knees and feet still work when I go to stand up.

Doc stuff done for husband, grabbed a few things he wanted at Walmart and back home. Doc would put him in the hospital, but too much covid, so she agrees he's better at home right now. But if he does worse at night, I can call an ambulance and call the doc on her personal cell number to give ER instructions. New IV antibiotics arriving at our door from Wichita in the morning, so hoping this one works better. So no infusions tonight...tomorrow is every six hours for this kind. Talked to daughter on the phone, and it looks like three of our kids will be here for Thanksgiving. One is bringing a new boyfriend. Poor man was told already that we're preppers and live with the amish.

That might have been a run-on sentence. @d_marsh
Sorry about your husband having such a hard time, @Amish Heart
@snappy1 ive been thinking about a Jeep Cherokee. Let us know what you choose.
@Pearl you’re something else!

Thought I’d add, guess I’ll have an overnight trip starting thursday. Called the va eye clinic in birmingham today. Back in sept I posted I got hit in the eye by a limb bush hogging down in the bottoms. Been having vision issues ever since. Called expecting a 3 or 4 month wait for an appointment. Must have just had a cancellation because they had an opening friday afternoon. I’ll drive up thursday and spend the night, already booked a hotel. Hoping the eye issue isn’t serious. I scratched the cornea, not badly, was fine a couple days later except my vision is cloudy with that eye. Been couple months but hasn’t cleared up. Guess I’ll find out whats up friday.

I only posted it in the prayer thread then was out for about a week. It happened on the third and we’ve not yet been allowed to touch anything- until Thursday 🙏 so don’t even know if there’s anything salvageable. Our house is fine but garage with all the re10@ding “stuff” 😉, fishing, hunting, camping, automotive, commercial ref and freezer with the grassfed beef I just picked up, etc - all gone.
Getting over the shock and have to remember our blessings outnumber our losses. Will see what happens Thursday when we are able to get in and look more closely.

It’s been rainy and blustery here off and on for the past several days. No rain this morning so took advantage of it and got out to til the tomato plot. Rototiller is incinerated so I used my handy dandy shovel and a pair of work gloves. Got at least half way through. Came in for lunch and the wind picked up so will see if I can get it done tomorrow.

An easy morning of doing dishes and washing before having to do a once off shift swap tomorrow with a co worker who can't make his 2-6pm shift due to a doctors appointment so the boss asked me to take his place in lieu of co worker doing my night shift just one time only then its back to nights for me Friday night onwards

Spent half an hour on the phone this morning with my insurance company as result of a email sent by the bloke in other vehicle involved with last weeks unfortunate incident as he sent a pdf file titled letter of demand saying he expects an outcome within next 14 days even though the assessor has yet to do his assessment adding in said person has failed to include his insurance details in this letter of which has ⏰🔔ringing on my insurers end

Even my insurance company is very concerned with the absence of any insurance details that were meant to be provided as promised by said person of which is requirement by law to do as well as the aggressive tone in said letter expecting a favorable outcome that heavily favors him and disadvantages me when its quite possible he hasn't bothered launching a claim with his insurer or that his vehicle isn't insured only registered

As the great sherlock Holmes said "When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable. must be the truth"

Its quite likely said person has been driving around uninsured in a vehicle that's only fit for farm use but I'll leave to my insurers investigators to suss out once the assessor has completed damage assessment

Your insurers deal with this stuff probably more than they want to!! Hopefully all goes smoothly on your end! Hoping you are getting over your injuries! Keep us posted!! And take care of yourself!!

Thanks for that Pearl i am slowly getting there still a small area of puffiness but that absence of insurance details from him is what's bugging me heaps,as mum was involved in a side swipe in Adelaide last year visiting my sister and the person responsible provided her insurance details as did mum both CGU and RAA worked hand in hand to settle the claim

My Irishman and I are trying to spend as much time together before he leaves for work again on early Friday morning.
He will be back the week before Christmas.
After the first of the year, we will decide if I will travel with him.
At least part of the time.
I have at least two more surgeries scheduled in late January.
So I will be in Missouri for those.
He plans on being with me for those too.
We plan on doing our first civilian 5 k in March.
I normally do military 5 k's,but am trying civilian 5 k's for the first time.
Will be trying to stay busy, while my Irishman is gone.
