How do you keep the batter on the fish? I tried frying some cod last weekend..the batter was great tasting but barely stayed on the fish..
I've been successful at mushrooms but it was my first fish fry in decades..was craven a good fry ..

I don’t add anything to make the batter stick, which is a mix of ap flour and cornmeal. Most fillets were frozen, catfish freezes well. So it's pretty moist when I thaw and cut it up. I sprinkle a thin layer of batter over a paper plate. Sprinkle on some old bay seasoning and lay my catfish pieces over the top. Then sprinkle a little more old bay on the fish pieces and another layer of batter. I pour it all into a plastic bowl and flip the bowl with my wrist to get the batter and fish tumbling. This gets all the nooks and crannies coated. As I pull out piece to drop in the oil I shake off excess batter. They only have a thin coat.

I fry 3 or 4 pieces at a time, fairly small. When I finish a batch I put them in a metal bowl that has half sheet of paper towel in the bottom, sprinkle a little salt. Cover with another piece of paper towel while the next batch is frying. etc, etc...

This is the only pic I have... these pieces are smaller than I fry now. These days I cut a fillet into 4-6 pieces depending on thickness, some parts of a fillet will be thicker than others. I try to keep the mass about the same over all, so the fry time is about the same no matter the shape of the piece.

If I think of it I'll take some pics of the process next time.

You probably just need the rubber stopper replaced if the water is dribbling out the top of the faucet. Unscrew the the faucet from the stand pipe and pull the whole faucet and attached rod out. At the bottom end of the rod there is a rubber stopper. Unscrew it and put a new one on.

I had to cut a hole into the ceiling of my horse barn to get the rod all the way out. The rod will be three to six feet long depending on how deep the water line is buried.

Might be eaiser to sign up online or go into a office and sign up. Be prepared to bring paperwork like drivers license n all that to verify you are you.
A state unemployment office might be able to help you too.
I'd go into your closest office. Ours is never that busy, I've gone in for myself, and for my mom's stuff.

Fed X finally came down our road, they were putting off deliveries for over a week because of the bad roads. So the Oupes Mega 2 came in, an extra big battery, and two solar panels, and some other random stuff. Been busy opening boxes and getting things set up for husband to handle. That'll keep him busy awhile, he's pretty much figured out everything on Mega 1.

well the social security did call me back ( 4 hours later LOL) and we figured out the online problem ( I used my work email originally years ago to set up the online account then I used a different .gov account for the medical so they had to delete all of it) . I also found out ( if the person on the phone figured it out right, and didn't just give me some number she made up....lol) how much I will be getting at 62 , well, if the system hasn't collapsed by then

and son finally had another online interview , it sounds like a good starting job so hope this one works out. The one he really wants is a mining engineering job he applied for , but not sure he will get that since he has no experience at all in anything like that

took Otto for a short hike in the snow up the mountain too, I was really sliding on the way down. The snow actually has evaporated some in areas. It hasn't melted ( too cold)

maybe it's because I am not old enough yet to get anything
but, I remember getting some sort of statement in the mail once a long time ago in Florida telling me how much I would potentially get if I keep working and earning what I did , but I didn't ( keep working) so now I have no idea and would like to know.
glad you got it figured out...the login thing can lock you out and its reason i done thread in news section..i think many will find same trouble you had today once it does change over or whatever it is soon and many will be locked out and trying to figure out why and need a real person like you did today and just bog entire real offices down asking for help...i signed up in the last 2 years and can see graph of what i will draw starting at 62 and forward the longer i wait...

glad you got it figured out.

So I THINK something GOOD actually just happened ! Son got the job offer...hope it works out and there are no last minute problems and he manages to get there . I wished the stupid snow and ice would melt !!
LOL, if he really gets the job I will add it to my calendar as "good day" .
Job is construction manager, which is not exactly engineer but good starting experience

I am trying to figure out if we have had enough bad crap in life lately for something actually good to happen, or if more bad stuff is coming to make up for the one good thing....hmmmm
So yeah I am nuts but it does seem to work that way ( 10 bad things 1 good one, maybe if you are lucky....)

Not smiling...
My front tooth with the 50-year old cap on it broke off today. :(
No pain, just weird.
Sorry, no picture, this will have to do:

(Yes, I have an emoji for everything.)
Well the dentist I went to only gave me a referral to an oral surgeon I saw today for a dental implant.
They took an awesome 3D x-ray that the guy could move around on his screen and view from every angle!
Was amazed when they casually said: 'we don't accept Medicare'.
They require payment up front. Half the day of scheduling (today), and half the day of surgery, Monday.
They will file with the insurance company, and hope they reimburse me.
Total = $6,740. (Not including the $650 crown that the dentist must install later):eyeballs:
My credit card didn't even blink when they put the $3,370 on it today. :D
Thank god for MasterCard!!:woo hoo:

Sonya, that is great news. I agree about the 10 bad things to 1 good thing.

Been helping friend move the past few days and Mom has been sick. She finally was able to eat and keep food down yesterday. Today she discovered that the new modem has strong enough signal that her laptop gets full bars from her room.

Went to Walmart to get some groceries and am now buried under cats.

I had a replacement tooth about two years ago and it was $5400. Now I have others that have broken the cap and remaining tooth off.....the main one I want to replace is sorta in the front.. The voice recognition on the phone call in number for various businesses doesn't recognize what I am saying..
The replacement went pretty well, just took a couple of months to heal so they could put the replacement tooth on...the dentist used a torque wrench when bolting it on..

They asked me afterwards if I wanted something to block the hole and keep from cutting my cheek.....You might check on that.

At some points in my life my only comment on events is, Next?
Like the year we turned 50, my wife had surgery for a torn rotator and our property burned in a forest fire....Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose.
But the fire kept us in this town since we were considering moving and then we found the 8 year old boy on the street that we have been raising.. (he now is 20 and a slow starter in the job market).
So who knows where events will take a person.

wow!!! I have never had a property burn down, that is something that worries me a lot lately ( we have no insurance)

But how in the world do you "find" an 8 year old??? You can't just take a kid home ....
But I hope he too will get a job

But you are right, you never know what will happen. Plans are just that. They might work out or not. I feel like you can only react to what;s happening lately. You can't plan for the future, because you have no idea what is going to happen. Assume it will be bad and prepare as best as you can, is about all you can do

Having both of my kids employed with real jobs is taking a huge amount of worry on my part away. I am not too worried about what happens to myself but I want my kids to be able to take care of themselves and do well. They both have marketable skills so that;s at least something. I tried to be a better parent than mine were

Only took about 2 hours to make my "sand blasting" box. Will try it out in the morning. Was going to make my chocolate/orange cake but decided it was better to do that on Saturday. Still working on pig sty, maybe even until hell freezes over from the size of it and me making more faster than cleaning it!

If you need another project you could build a powder coat oven out of a old kitchen stove like I did once... Takes longer and costs more than I thought at the start of the project,,,,,

well i am going to rant..i have nothing to rant about...life is pretty good...only thing close is iced over trails and cold temps..but they are really just bumps in the road till april 1st spring thaw date...!!
i thought i was in rant thread...guess yall can rant at me for not getting a post in correct thread...lol....such is my life...lol

Went to the massage girl today. That woman did things to me.... She hurt me in places that I didn't know could hurt. I think it helped though. I'll go back next week, if I heal up first. I'll go see her for a few more weeks and then decide if it's helping my back and shoulder or if I'll need to get the surgery. I'll try anything before I get surgery on my back. She said that I need to take it easy and stop lifting heavy things. Yeah right. That's not going to happen.

I had a neighbor woman who gave message. Said she would give me one anytime so I tried it. Never again! She hurt me so bad I was yelling at her to stop and let me up. She started in with deep tissue massage she called it. She said several times she was sorry, well yeah, ok. Offered a couple more times but I figure she had some wicked half nelson hold she made up and needed someone to hold still a few seconds! Never again!

Same with this girl. At one point I told her that I'd confess to anything she wanted if she'd just release the pressure. But the thing about deep tissue massage is that it works. Years ago I had carpal tunnel really bad. Went to 3 doctors and they all wanted to operate. Someone recommended that I try deep tissue massage. So I went. The little Phillipina girl just about had me in tears. After several weeks of torture she had me in pretty good shape. That little beetle made a believer out of me. It's been 20 years and still no carpal tunnel.

Y'all can keep your massages, I don't like strange people touching me! Anyhow, my job for today is rescheduled for Saturday. I'm taking Bear to the hike/bike trails for a several mile walk! Going to be a beautiful day, glad I can get him out to do something!! Got a list a mile long when I get home!

Before I use my blast cabinet I'm going to clean up my sty! I had to move part of it over to put cabinet on the desk. Did I put stuff away? LOL, no, just moved it. So spring cleaning early this year! Maybe I can use the blaster tomorrow. Waiting until Saturday for my other cake experiment and already feeling like Pavlov's dog! For right now it's coffee then more coffee.
