Did some laundry, made a pot of potato soup and cleaned up the kitchen. Work was really annoying today, lots of hardware/software issues just trying to do some letters. Everything kept bogging down and when I looked, the computer was consistently at 80-100% use of memory and CPU power. I really need to get these letters done but after three hours I gave up and slammed the laptop shut so hard it scared the dog. I guess Monday I'll have to contact the gits at tech support, which is usually a complete waste of at least two days.
Tomorrow I'm headed to Daughter's house to put up curtain rods and some shelves.
Tommyice I hope you get some help, and that your Dad can handle the trip.
Magpie I hope all the hatches stay battened!
zannej what do you do for water in the meantime? Hope you can get a new pump soon!

@Tommyice There’s a service here for situations exactly like yours. It costs $$ but a lot cheaper than an ambulance. A couple times when dad was real sick in 2020, and a few times with mom last year… It’s a van service for the handicapped or those wheel chair bound. They come to your house, get the wheel chair into the van and drop you at the front door, even help get inside. Then they’ll pick you up afterwards and return you home. I don’t know what’s its called, my aunts handled the booking etc. Insurance covered part of it.

----------------

Trip to town, completely exhausted now. Too many annoying/aggravating time-wasting events to list. Just glad to be home...
There is a service but it’s for Medicaid participants and dad doesn’t fit the criteria. NJ Transit also has something that is reasonably priced but it doesn’t cross counties and Newark is two counties away. Private ambulette is about $250 and not covered by his insurance. A friend of my brother may be able to go with us but he won’t know until tomorrow afternoon. Finger’s crossed

Also still trying to find someone to cover my shift at work—all my part timers went back to school and have even more restrictive availability than before. Dad is worried they’ll fire me but I’m not worried about. Besides if that were to ever happen, I would see it as God’s way of saying now it’s time to try something new, girl.

@Tommyice talked to an aunt a bit ago. She didn't remember the details either but found the service through a community center for the elderly. Search senior centers and local elderly transport services, might get lucky and find something. Worth a shot... :) Funny, she had to find something because the ambulance services won't cross county lines here for some reason. But the elderly transport services will.

Found out today dad’s surgical follow-up on Monday is not in the usual office. Surgeon won’t be having office hours at the location that’s 15 minutes from the house until February 7. I have to take him to University Hospital in Newark. 😱 I’m gonna need help for that. And a wheelchair—there’s no way he’ll be able to walk from the parking garage that’s attached to the building.
You'll have to park and go in and get a wheelchair and bring it out to him. Do you have a handicap placard? It's a shorter walk if you do. I do this for husband everytime we're out. Then you'll have to return the wheelchair where you got it after you get him back in the car. A pain, but hey, you'll get your steps in for the day. You can do it.

Funny, earlier tonight was speaking to an aunt. Her daughter, a nurse in Mobile, has been stranded at work for 3 days and having trouble finding a place to sleep. I sent word… check the catscan! It’s a great place to sleep. I’ve done I more times than I can count.

Many times I’d work on a CT til after midnight but need to be back there early. It’d be too late to go home… So I’d sleep on the catscan pt table. There were always plenty of pillows and blankets in the cupboard. It’s quiet and private, a great place to sleep. The techs would wake me when they came to work the next morning.

So if you ever find yourself stranded in a hospital… now you know where to catch some Zzz’s. 🤣 (Oh, I don’t recommend sleeping on an MRI patient table, metal in or on your body might keep you awake😁)

So I went to bed a couple of hours ago. Stared in the dark for a good hour. Got back up and turned on some house renovation porn on the tv. I start a temporary promotion into the supervisor position for my team on Monday. My previous supervisor died very unexpectedly in November and we have basically been rowing the boat in circles waiting for someone to do something. When it became apparent that no one else was going to step up, I volunteered. This could be a full blown landfill fire, dumpster has been burning for a while. Please be kind to any federal government workers you know. We are all are more than a little lost in the chaos that has been occurring since Monday, the downward communications have been pretty lacking. That coupled with the a staff still grieving from the loss of a beloved supervisor is probably why I’m still wide awake.

Was relaxing at home mid this morning with plans to head into Mount Gambier early but had my arm proverbially twisted by mum to take her car to Penola on a chook scrap run initially i protested due to it being nearly 10:30am at that time but reluctantly ended up going and getting a bag of vegetable scraps

Got home just before 11:10am then headed into town getting to spark automotive about 20 minutes before my the appointment time at 12pm after giving some extra information their office lady brought the tucson into parking area ready for stereo installation

Around 12:30 Jordan took my fourbie into workshop shed and go to work installing the stereo just before 1:30 it was rolled out and parked in vehicle ready bay next to their office and gave me a run through of which app to install and how the attached phone holster works

In total I was only charged $180 of which was put onto my zip pay account to pay off got home just before half past two had a quick rest did my pre work chores then came back up to town ready to clock on at 5:45pm

Yesterday I received my order of pepper seeds in the mail. I got 2 packs of 7 Pot Douglah, 1 Bleeding Borg, 1 Moruga Satan, 1 Wicked Ghost, 1 Carolina Reaper, and 1 Death Sprial. I plan on starting the seeds inside in February or March, but wont be able to plant outside until mid June.

Again, a regular work day! Again, stupidly cold, so much for the weather people's warmer night! It's 16°! It will warm up some today, I'm ready for normal weather!! We are cutting firewood later. A few rainy days coming up this week and we have many downed trees lined up ready to be cut. Might as well take advantage of the better weather and get them done!!

I had asked the care coordinator about wheelchair availability. This is in an office building on the campus not actually the hospital. She said there is not a lobby with chairs available like the cancer center we normally go to in Hackensack and we would need our own. We do have a handicap placard—just got it two months before all this started.

Funny you mention steps. I just activated that logging on my phone out of curiosity for while I’m working. Not as many as I would have thought.

That's awful they don't have wheelchairs. Even our doc offices not located at the hospital or the medical clinic, the stand alone offices have wheelchairs. It is luck of the draw, though, whether they only have the smaller ones or the extra wide ones that have a hard time getting into doors. We have two at home...a wide wheelchair that weighs too much for me to load in the truck on my own, and a rolling chair that I can load, but husband finds uncomfortable. Lately he's been driving his scooter in the house, down the ramp and gets into the truck. I have to turn it around, back it up, but this works well. Except I mop alot with our snow we had and the walkway salt it's tracking in.
Today is a bigger town shop day. Pharmacy pickup at Walmart, so I'm sure I'll get stuff there, and then fill a cart at Aldi.

We had the same situation when I took him for pre-admission testing. The gal at the front desk was able trying every office looking for one. Finally another a patient was exiting and I helped them to their car so I could get the chair. A friend of dad’s is trying to scare one up through the ambulance corp. I’ll check with our local medical supply house if they rent them.

This has been a great test of my resourcefulness.

went to bed really early slept all night and woke up really late ...wow, I must have been exhausted. Didn't even take a gummi
Well, we were supposed to get more wood today but now it's supposed to be tomorrow. At least it seems to have warmed up a little, in the 20s instead of close to zero. The goat went to the vet and he cut off the pieces hanging off the hoof. I thought he would do that but couldn't quite get myself to do it....I am good with the animals but not a vet. He bandaged it up with a pretty pink bandage like for little kids and gave her a shot of antibiotic. I also got a bottle of tetracyclline ( random antibiotic for injuries and other stuff that you can no longer buy at the feed store without prescription) and a bunch of meloxicam pills that work great on inflammation and stuff, LOL husband got some of those for his knee from the human doctor). We have a great vet, but he is very busy all the time

We took 2 vehicles to make sure everything fit in since the truck was full with the crate and we picked up feed bags at the farm store.
We going to get propane refills at the TP but they were out, so we exchange the tanks at Walmart and they only had 3 left, wow! I guess everyone has their Bigbuddies going with this cold.

Water situation: husband turned the valve just about off for flow below us ( it doesn't close all the way) and we had pressure back, but neighbor higher up still has no water. We will need to go talk to the neighbors below us to see if they have leaks

So animal care today plus I really need to start on the taxes, it is almost end of January which is when we usually send them to the accountant

ok I better get started

Get your own wheelchair at some point!! He will need it sometime in the future! We learned that with my Mom!!

Keep in mind that tetracycline doesn't store for long, it becomes toxic. Use it or lose it!

You should just buy a rolling chair ($135) is what we paid, 26 lbs, capacity of 300 lbs. Also called a transport wheelchair. Then you'll have it. Fits in a trunk. I betcha ebay might have a used one. I normally don't bring one with us, our offices usually have one. The place I have a hard time is the rare time he wants to go into a store, like Walmart. They have alot of electric scooters, really, but wouldn't count on one on Fri, Sat, or Sunday. I've had to watch for people exiting and follow them to grab theirs.

Just found out my rent will be going up. Was going to go ask the manager how much but figured I'll find out when the time comes. Thought I was paying 29% but it's 39%, still a great help being on sec. 8 or I'd be in a cardboard box somewhere. I've seen several webs about SS changing pay days back to the way it was. Depending on your Birthday as to which week you get it. Was all set up paying bills then and changed me to the 3rd of every month. Ok, changed all my bill payment dates to that (the 10th) and now may have to go back. I go to My SS and don't see a change notice or anything there so I don't know. I hate being in the dark. Refiguring my brass train hobby. May have to turn it into a resale gig for some extra jingle. All in all I'm doing ok, better than some, so no real complaints.

@Amish Heart I ordered one from Amazon just about 5 minutes ago. It’s a folding, lightweight transport one—23 lbs. Also one of his friends offered to go with us to Newark if my brother’s friend is unable to. God is good. Only thing left to wrangle is coverage for my shifts to ease the burden of me not being there. If no one steps up then they’ll just have to suck it up.

Saw the note about your Brass train hobby, what scale do you model?

You're the same temp this morning as we are. But for us this is a pretty mild temperature. We may get close to freezing later today too! We need snow, lots of snow or we're going to be in trouble this summer.

The water line where the water meter is located froze and busted. The county turned the water off on Wednesday but has not fixed the line yet. They told me that since the water meter froze and burst, we want to be charged for the water. We always store water in 50-gallon barrels. Then I had to buy a new computer because the computer tech told the antivirus to reset the password.

@Tommyice Be prepared for donor chairs. I bought dad’s first one like you. Then the word spread into the community and extended family. Suddenly I had 6 or 7 chairs. Most had something wrong, some part not working correctly, one with a bad wheel. I ended up repairing all of them and sending them back or giving them to others in need. Then mom needed a chair a couple years later.. Same thing happened. Now there are 2 extra chairs in the house and 3 more in the storage shed by the shop… I have repaired chairs to donate if I hear of a need.

Another trip to town today, have to take dad to the bank and to get a haircut.

Oh. Today I'm getting this computer setup on my computer desk and hope it works with my printer.
One project down. I'm sitting at my computer desk for what seems like the first time in 100 years. Plugged in my camera to this new Linux machine, transferred a pic and printed it. All no problem - life is good. lol

Time to soldier on with indoor projects and ditch the bad attitude I woke up with.

not true, I asked the vet. He said I can use it until it turns a weird brown color, probably a few years . And then it is not toxic just doesn't work anymore. I asked specifically since I have heard that before too
