The water line where the water meter is located froze and busted. The county turned the water off on Wednesday but has not fixed the line yet. They told me that since the water meter froze and burst, we want to be charged for the water. We always store water in 50-gallon barrels. Then I had to buy a new computer because the computer tech told the antivirus to reset the password.
our neighbor's water is frozen. We checked today, everyone has water except here, so the only thing possible is her line to her tank is frozen
It really needs to warm up!!

Bisous made friends with a guinea pig today.

Trip to town, ran a few errands. Dad got a haircut while I was having new windshield wipers put on his car. Took it too a chain auto parts store where they put wipers on for customers. The wind was pretty cold so I didn't want to do it. Poor girl at the store had trouble, took her a half hour. Kept coming back in and re-reading the instructions. She was about frozen when she finished, had on a short sleeve shirt.

Oh, stopped at advance auto first. They are going out of business, said hundreds of stores closing nationwide. They were even selling the store shelving at this location. Everything must go! Didn't want to make a purchase there so I went to a store down the street.

Didn't do much once I got home. A bit ago I went up to the shop for something, happened to notice a newborn calf in the pasture. Called my cousin to let him know. He told me he lost a calf yesterday, fell through ice over a stock pond. Managed to get out but froze in the cold night before last, found him yesterday. So I guess he broke even this week.

No plans but dinner and tv this evening.

Hashbrown ; Too cute!!!

It's still cold out but not as, thankfully didn't snow enough to cover the road again
Son is supposed to start working Monday , I hope this job works out .

I finally started on our taxes and am scrambling to find more receipts for farm expenses or we might actually have to pay some taxes this year. Wow, was not aware we made that much money on livestock sales and farmers market ( plus the money I knew , husband's pension and I took some out the 401k)
Well once I dig up all the Ranger repair and truck repair receipts the profits are all pooof going to disappear I am sure...
That's the great thing about running a farm and filing schedule F, you can write off all those things usually (truck has a legit farm tag, not just one of those " farm use " tags people around here put on stuff you can buy at a farm store)

Saw the note about your Brass train hobby, what scale do you model?
I do HO scale. Steam, diesel, electric box cab and steeple cab. I also do plastic/die cast, mainly Rivarossi, Athearn, Cary, Varney and Bowser. Right now I have at least 8-9 brass and many other projects to get done. Will start selling my non brass to get more money to buy brass with! Have some Pullman heavyweight passenger cars in brass I need to paint.

@Tommyice Be prepared for donor chairs. I bought dad’s first one like you. Then the word spread into the community and extended family. Suddenly I had 6 or 7 chairs. Most had something wrong, some part not working correctly, one with a bad wheel. I ended up repairing all of them and sending them back or giving them to others in need. Then mom needed a chair a couple years later.. Same thing happened. Now there are 2 extra chairs in the house and 3 more in the storage shed by the shop… I have repaired chairs to donate if I hear of a need.

Another trip to town today, have to take dad to the bank and to get a haircut.
You make them sound like Tribbles.

not true, I asked the vet. He said I can use it until it turns a weird brown color, probably a few years . And then it is not toxic just doesn't work anymore. I asked specifically since I have heard that before too
Check with a pharmacist—they have a better handle on the properties of a medication while the doctor knows the usage of it. When expired it can cause kidney malfunction.

lol there are no pharmacists for livestock
I doubt the goats will live long enough to develop kidney problems. They usually go to the freezer at around age 2 unless they are breeding does
I have given way out of date LA200 and the sheep survived and didn't have any problems ( for pneumonia which would have killed it for sure)

a pharmacist will of course tell you to never use anything expired

These are meat goats, liver and kidney toxins are not nice! I wouldn't trust a veterinary or a doctor!!

There are several railroad gangs working in this same area of Southern California where I'm currently at. Most of the guys are staying in Brawley or El Centro. Today I found out that one of my best railroad buddies is on one of the other gangs and is staying at the same hotel as me. I hadn't seen him for three years so we went to a bar and grill for burgers and a beer. Got to talking and found out he's in the room next door! I've been here four nights and had no idea! We picked up just like we saw each other yesterday. Seeing old friends like him is good for the soul. But we know we're getting older. We used to stay out and raise hell all night. But tonight we both thought it was time to turn in at 7pm! 😂

Took the wife to the beauty salon today, it was warmer today (above freezing). It was late by the time we got done, so I picked up some burgers on the way home, big mistake. The wife has been sick after eating it, too much fat and salt. Now I'm in the dog house because I should have known better.?

This weekend we are planning to fix dinner meals for every night next week. The plan is 2 chicken casseroles and a shepherds pie, tomorrow I plan to stew 2 chickens. I'm also planning on making a couple of breakfast casseroles for myself.

Based on the menu, I'm short a couple bags of frozen veggies and some ground turkey, so tomorrow morning I will slip out and get things rolling. I have my list and my marching orders, so I'm good to go. :)
