On my last laptop I was able to stop auto updates by saying I had a metered connection, have not found a way to stop the win 11 updates tho.

Updates are a good thing, unless you're running Windows.

We did a grocery list last night, the wife is spooked by news describing food shortages coming our way so she really loaded the list up, extra eggs, rice, butter, and the list went on and on... I did the grocery shopping early this morning and put everything away. We date everything with a sharpie as soon as it comes in the house. I also cleaned out the crispers in the fridge. I listed everything in each drawer and put the lists on the Fridge door, each crisper got it's own list. I figure that it will help her with planning meals.

I ordered some more 8"X8" stainless steel pains for casseroles and dishes that we can freeze. We currently have 12, but we keep running out when trying to do batches, so 4 more should make things go smoother.

great things in the 80s: great music, great concerts, I was not old, there was no online anything, you could live on much less money, politics were not all nuts, people still interacted instead of sitting in front of screens , you could still fix your own car if you wanted, there was no "climate change" nonsense , when you looked for a job you could just look in the classified, go there and apply and be hired on the spot , you could pay your bills in person with cash if you wanted, the US was a safe and great country and probably many more things

I love the stainless steel pans. Just ordered some stainless steel cookie sheets to replace my old aluminum ones.

I have a bunch of old non stick cookie sheets that the non stick wore off on. This is what I did with them: I treated them like cast iron and put oil on them, and put them in the oven until it stuck about half hour . Now I have some great baking sheets nothing sticks to that are just about indestructible.

Took the day off of work for a multitude of reasons. First off Dad had to get dental clearance for the radiation. Not good. All 5 of the teeth he has left have some form of decay. Because of the radiation he won’t be able to have any extracted for roughly two years because of healing. He’s getting them all pulled. That’s happening next Friday and I’m hoping my brother will be back so I don’t need to take another day off. I need to spend phone time today—make other appointments, notify the medical oncologist that he will not be doing chemo, only radiation.

The rest of the day is a mental health day for me. I’ll do some grocery shopping, move more of my stuff down here, create a puréed masterpiece for Dad. Ease into the weekend. I have a small tabletop loom to assemble so I’ll have something enjoyable to do here.

I use my old pans in the greenhouse. Easier to move seed flats around if they're on them. I replaced my teflon type non stick pans and pots with ceramic

We're finally getting some snow here this morning. It's coming down pretty hard and the wind is blowing it sideways. The weather guessers are calling for snow for the next 7 days, maybe up 2 - 4 feet. We'll see.

Clem, that sounds crazy having to deal with teenagers on drugs. I wonder what the school staff did with that girl.

Amish Heart, Yikes. I hope whatever is afflicting the kids isn't anything serious. I know RSV has been going around and is bad.

I watched an episode of Miss Scarlet (formerly Miss Scarlet and the Duke) while having breakfast. It gets cringey at times but I like seeing how the cases resolve. I always get sleepy after eating so its time for a nap.

I forgot to mention that the cats were hollering at me this morning to inform me that they were starving. It had been a whole 8 hours since they were last fed. So I fed them and now they are happy. I think Rupert may have gone outside. Fippy had been next to me but I think he went out too.

there is no no more updates, but there is a temporary stop updates which I already did. Today it told me something like "this is the last time you can pause updates"

Fun time with our oldsters lunch and talking catch up. Levi was out of school, so he came by, too. We ate too much for sure. Made plans on who is riding with who to Uncle Melvin's viewing Tuesday and Wednesday funeral. Alot of the amish family are in Pinecraft Florida on vacation at the moment, and will miss it. So I'll drive the big truck with husband little granddaughter, favorite cousin and her daughter. Another van will be rented for cousin Harry and three other cousins, so they'll have a driver.

Today, I went to the VA hospital to get some lab work done. After that, I bought my wife a new Apple phone along with a new number because someone had been sending threats to her old phone. The police traced the threatening number to someone in Nigeria. We are now on high alert because this person claimed to know our address.

Went over the hill to Avon for the first time since December. Nice day although an 18-wheeler damn near all most ran over me. Had to beat the Arctic cold front minus numbers for the next two weeks at least. Cold, cold, cold! Cold headed to the South hopefully in two weeks.

I'm not headed to the South I'm hoping the cold will head to the South in two weeks.

It started snowing about 7 this morning and it's still snowing. We didn't do much today other than taking care of the animals.

The weather had multiple personalities today. Which, admittedly, happens a lot in Michigan. Drove through warm and sunny, cloudy, damp, and cold, light hail, snow, and wind today in just two hours. Attended a funeral for my friend's mom. Service was in a Catholic church, had Catholics, Lutherans, and Amish in attendance.
Made a batch of chicken broth and got a vintage canister set off ebay for my Daughter's birthday present.

You took my extra day! Yesterday I thought it was Wednesday so when today was Friday, I was really messed up.

Did a little work at the house then came home and made oatmeal monsters for Hubby. I’m ready for this big stuff to be done so we can get to moving in. Starting to think towards planting seeds but not with all this back and forth.

Neighbor Marlon came by with little Dillon his son, and I drove them to our little hardware store and we got a new faucet set up for the milkhouse. He put it in, and works great now!

I got laundry done and some other random chores like mending one of the sweatshirts that got holes burned in it the last time I torched a brush pile, and pulling the elderberries out of the dehydrator, packing them away and putting another load in it. Also put another load of rocks in the rock tumbler, I finally got the new package of grit for it yestersay. I'm thawing meat for stew but it looks like I'm going to be doing pizza for dinner tomorrow for a kiddo's birthday so maybe I'll do stew on Sunday.

This afternoon I mounted a speed bag (punching bag that bounces back and forth on the swivel just overhead) in the garage. It was designed to mount on to a wall but I mounted it on to a 6x6 support beam in the middle of the garage so I had to build braces off each side of the beam so it wouldn't try to wobble left and right. All my wall space is taken up with tool boxes and cabinets and work benches and freezers. Plenty of freezers. I wasn't working very fast and took a couple breaks, but after about 2 hours of work trying to figure out the picture instructions I was satisfied with my effort.
The good news is I was able to get back the rhythm enough for about 4 successful sets, once I let some air out of the bag to slow it down.
I now have something for good exercise that will build coordination, stamina, and will exercise and strengthen core body muscles as well as my hips, legs and arms. Oh, and my brain, you definitely have to focus to stay in rhythm and hit the bag in the center and in a straight line. Focus on the bag and forget about the rest of life for a while.
