It's 3 degs here this morning. We're having biscuits and gravy for breakfast. We'll go feed and water everyone and then I'll get the snow blower out and make a couple passes on the road. If it all goes well I should have the road open by tomorrow.
I'm feeling better this morning. It looks like it'll be a nice day, except they're calling for more snow tonight.

Think I'll continue pressing out tinctures this morning. I've put this job off far too long but it's time. It'll free up a lot of jars for this season.

I need to finish cleaning up all the socket sets today. At least go up to the shop change out the gasoline I have them soaking in. Maybe get them into a big feed trough to dry later this afternoon.

Haven't been able to get in touch with a friend for several days, worried. Her daughter was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer 3 weeks ago... (poor kid had a husband and 4 kids under 9). Think I need to call some of my friend's cousins, which are also my cousins. Maybe someone has heard some news. :(

This last 2 work weeks kicked my butt and I slept good last night.
Me one of my bosses and my forklift driver were driving up to work together a few times due to the crap road conditions like slick ice slush n snow and temps in the 20's. Getting up the mountain at least a hour early, 5am..uggh..which means I'm up at 0345ish.
The last 2 years the state road plows have been understaffed..so counting on the roads to be plowed is iffy. The last few storms we've had alot of vehicles ..mostly semis and out of towners have been having slideoffs. Locals know better and most slow down but the roads are crappy to drive at 5am especially is snow is comming down n the roads are iffy.
Plus, the forklifts have been having normal winter challenges, so a few days when it was a challange to get to work anyways, we teamed up to get to work early in one peice and get our machines up n running with a head start b4 full production at 0600.

It's been a long 2 weeks..

Today..I'm doing chores laundry, walk pups, run a few errands, the community meeting is at 2. Finish getting my radio license, come home n get stovie fired up, make lunch for next week n relax at some point..
The next few days are back to really cold nights. Not looking forward to that..

Watching tv with the girls, putting off draining some pumps until this afternoon.

@sonya123 , let us know later how Axel is doing!! @GreenAndSwirly , it's been a week of "those" days 😉! @Tommyice , are you getting icy weather?
Axel is not doing well, not even eating the livers I cooked him. He's just laying there. I forced some antibiotics and pain pills down him, hope it will work. Not looking good:( I hate those damned ticks around here. If I had to pick THE worst thing about living here that would be it. Lyme causes lots of problems for humans and animals

Sonya, sending good vibes for Axel. That's actually my fiend's 4-yr-old's name too.
Trying to motivate myself to get up and be productive but Ginger is clinging to me. Fippy has his head on my leg and fusses whenever I move. They will both be unhappy when I get up. Litterboxes first, then some trash cleanup, and I'll try to remember to take my measuring tape and get some measurements of the pump house.

Just got the snowblower fired up and out of the shop. It's warmed up to 10 degs already.
I carry a walky talky with me just in case, but at best it only reaches a couple miles. That's not far enough for here. I think tonight I'm going to order a couple Baofeng radios. Maybe they'll reach across our property.

We are waiting for a call from the delivery drivers delivering the new freezer. We are getting rid if 2 refrigerator and replacing with a big chest freezer. All of the paths are cleared. The last delivery attempt was aborted due to too much snow. The Princess is anxious waiting for the call. Here is hoping.

Ben

It was 70°F this morning and is now 78°F. I was sweating while outside.
I went out and measured the shed, stepped in cat crap out there, had to wipe my shoes off, then sat and petted Rupert (while trying to clean my shoes), went inside and cleaned litterboxes. Two of them were so full that sifting was pointless so I took them outside and dumped them and cleaned them out. They are all back in and have fresh litter now. Itsy figured out how to use the cat door so she was outside. Normally she's the first to hop in clean litterboxes.

I probably need to make a trip to Samsclub this weekend but I'm letting my back rest a little bit right now.

Mission accomplished!

The young delivery guys were curious about the old refrigerators. The oldest was may 50 years old. The newer maybe 30. Good riddance!

The Princess has an entire wall of chest freezers now.

She has new set of stackable baskets to keep things organized.

And look at the temporary counter space she has now.

I will switch the circuit over to the solar backup batteries once they have stabilized a few days.

They should on simplex. I've carried those or a cell phone when I'm out doing chores in case husband needs something.

Only to two hours to make a pass down the driveway. I think I can get my truck out now. I'll give it a try tomorrow. FedEx left a package for us last week, Trackers birthday present. Since our road was impassable the driver left it with a neighbor about 5 miles down the road. We'll take my Jeep out later and pick it up.

After ump-teen weather warnings at first light this morning there was about 2" of new snow.. Still single digit, low teens F for temps, bright, patchy black bottom clouds.. Snow to move east tonight across the region..

Got everything gathered to make my world famous beanie-weenie hot dish for the pot luck before the big game tomorrow here at the ..Wrinkle Ranch.. Many here seem dedicated football fans, so they will likely go all out making things for the dinner..

Wait until after the STUPIDBOWL!! A friend went this afternoon and said they were sold out of many things! An employee said because of "The Big Game"!!🙄🙄🙄

Axel didn't make it. Found him dead around lunchtime. We dug a big hole next to Heidi's grave and burried him. I hate losing dogs
Drinking lots of vodka and crying
I'm very sorry for your loss sonya. We had to put Gus down 3 years ago, and I'm not over it yet, probably never will be.
It sounds like your Axel had a good life with you.

Been dealing with issues with my laptop since K knocked it off the couch when he propped it on the arm. It is still under the protection plan so we had to drive to Dallas to take it to the Apple store for the repairs. It was done in less than a week and we had to go back up to pick it up. The good thing about picking it up we left early and went to a Trader Joe's we saw near by to kill time til the Apple store opened. While I was without my laptop I was using an older one I had gotten refurbished and I have been too lazy to reformat the repaired one. Well, I finally got off my lazy butt and reformatted it.

Aside from the computer issues I have been counting the days until we move. I know, we just got here to Texas back in April. Well, K's company has a job down in Austin and the site owner wants K and his crew on that job. (He is working a job for that owner now in Dallas so the owner is aware of K and the crew.). The good thing about this 3 hour away move would be a per diem. The whole family can move down there to save on double rent and we could save twice as much for our land purchase. We should be heading down in the summer.

Finally talked to my friend. As I thought she’s been over loaded taking daughter to chemo and seeing after her grandchildren. Everyone got the flu that’s been making the rounds. Adults got sinus infections and 2 kids ended up with strep throat, a mess. She’s still holding it together though, a tough woman.

Pressed out a few tinctures today. Got all the equipment cleaned and washed. Ready to start pressing again tomorrow.

After a 24hr soak in gasoline I rinsed all the socket sets. Got them soaking again in clean fuel. Been reading that a soak in distilled vinegar will take off any rust. A few pieces have rusty spots. I have a couple gallons in the pantry I need to use. I’ll give the socket sets a good rinse tomorrow to get the fuel off then dump them in a bucket of vinegar for a day or so….

No plans but tv this evening.
