Home from work!! Whew!! Got a lot to do here! Taking the trash out, cleaning out the wood stove, bringing in firewood, getting my cleaning supplies ready for tomorrow, feeding critters, hopefully cleaning Buddy's water trough (if it thawed enough), brushing Buddy, taking Bear for a woods walk, vacuuming the den, cooking dinner, and whatever else is on my list!! I hope I can get a whole night's sleep tonight!! It is much needed!!

so I let the pregnant sheep out ( the other were in the pasture today) and just walk around eating next to the road near the barn. I didn't want them at the bottom of the pasture having lambs...
I was sitting on the Ranger keeping an eye on them and I hear this wooosshhhhhh from the barn. The valve in the waterline busted and water going everywhere! I guess when it froze it busted, and then it defrosted .This is in a small room in the barn where we fill up the buckets ( when it's not frozen ) . I drove up to the house and started yelling for husband to shut the water off. LOL the sheep must have been scared from me yelling, they were all back in the barn when we got back down.
Of course we have no spare valve that fits ( looked at Home depot last time and they didn't have any ) so husband tried to put a bunch of clamps on it, to hold it together LOL, of course that didn't work. I went looking for a valve and found on in a building we don't have water going to anyway. So far so good, it appears to be holding for now
If we could not have shut this off, we would have had to turn the main line off going to the neighbors below us ( and us)
If this had happened during the night, our barn would have flooded. We really need to do something about the plumbing around here....

I sympathize with you on the plumbing. We had it all redone in the house when we moved in, had to. But the outbuildings can be a problem, and the older hydrants. I still can't get over the faucet in the milkhouse working after it never did, but it wouldn't shut off, and was flooding the rabbit room. Thankfully, neighbor Marlon is handy that way because I am not. Oh...chores were soooo easy today with little granddaughter's help and the sun was out and it was good!

I spent the entire day trying to repair my kerosene heater, but I was unable to fix it. This heater is essential for warming my barn. When I went out into the cold, I found that the lever wouldn't raise the wick. By around three o'clock, I decided it was best to order a new one. This week seems to be filled with breakdowns; the lock on the trunk of the van is also malfunctioning, and our electric blankets aren't working properly either. Tomorrow, I plan to stop by the flea market to buy some seeds.

Went to the fiddler’s convention at the jr. college. Had a wonderful time, played until my hands ached. Picked with some new people, picked with old friends too. The computer lab had the best music by far, it was a blast.

Got a few groceries and dinner on the way home, resting tonight...

For heat: I think that pound for pound.... dog food produces more heat than coal. ? I mean my dog puts out some BTU's

A good dog would even help with mechanical repairs, if they had thumbs.

Is it one of the round wicks or a flat wick? Picture? I’ve “played with” a few kerosene lamps and burners.

Round wick.
Make sure the little “wheel” turns without the wick in it. Also make sure the holes in the screen part are lining up with the wheel to lift it. They do burn down over time. They last longer if you don’t turn them too high.
This is where I got my replacements.

Hey ....its Saturday night 🙃
February 22th 2025
9.25 PM

Today I did ...not much

Except call the pneumonia friend ..he said he is doing pretty good
and still finish soon his meds
He even went in wood on his tractor 😮
But today there was no wind, not snowing
and sun was there and not that cold

Anyway ..this is him ...the way he is :)

My day was feeding wild birds -- care for Dane Girl and Cats
Just a relaxing day and some laundry and broom the floor
and changing some litters ..just take it easy

Dont know why but I feel like if its 11 pm but its not

Relax guys its Saturday night ;)

Slept in late today dispite my original plan to get up early.
Owell..
On my walk up my road, I met the couple and their adult son who made a offer on some bare land property not far on my place. They moved here from Florida last fall but moved by boise area. They don't like it down there and yearn to be more rural. He is a retired disabled vet n she works remote. Super cool folks. We hit it off well..talked on the muddy road for at least a hour. I hope they get it n all goes well.
After I finished the pup walk..I headed to town, got a few supplies n hit home to get chores done.
I got more done than I originally planned but not everything on my list.
I think now is a good time to decide if I'll read or watch something. After I will do a nighttime meditation to chill out further and attempt to get to bed at a decent hour so I can get up early.
It's soup time..
Cheers!

Fours hours in the ER—not dad, me. Dropped the metal base from a lamp on my foot. Badly broken toe. The doctor sewed the nail on to help the surrounding tissue a cuticle are to heal. The anesthesia to the toe (Novocain) is wearing off. They gave me tramadol in the ER but that is not an immediate pain relief drug. Gonna have to get up and get some Advil. Left my crutches in the living room and I’m in the bedroom. Can’t go to work. Can’t drive. The doctor said there might be a pinning of the bone in my future.

Upside, my family doctor (who’s a friend of Dad) is coming to the house tomorrow to check on us.

I feel like I got stuck with that statue the Brady’s found in Hawaii
Well at least you can't go surfing with Greg!! 🙁 Prayers for FAST healing! Do what you can do, doctors aren't always right!! Bad timing sucks, I'm sorry you are having to deal with this!!

We always make jokes about our animals needing to do this or that, but can't because they have no thumbs. Ha.

I watched a guy that unboxes consignee jewelry to resell on his marketplace auction.
I love learning about jewerly..I love gems , learning about different designers..how to test stuff and what to look for..
I love jewerly..but I own very few peices and rarely wear them.
My friend is dumbfounded as to why..every time she comes over I have a jewelry show on..
I love rock hounding, and spending a few hours panning..the search and finding rocks n crystals, agates for me is so fun and exciting and zen to learn about them.
The jewelry is the end result. My few nice peoces are locked up n a PITA to take out just to go out for ? . I rarely go out so I'd rather keep them locked up for now.
I have some nice but cheaper stuff out but again..not to work..and at home I'm busy doing chores..so it's pointless to wear 99% of the time.
I look at it ..I like feeling the smooth cool beads of amber or turquoise..
So I learned something new and ordered a jewelry blacklight. Many stones, gems and minerals glow under UV light!!
So I have jars of beach agates, rocks I've found here and some beach glass that potentially might be uranium glass..
I can't wait to see what glows under light!!
