Yesterday I got a package in the mail. It had my Bessey clamps, hot sauce bottles and 6 books. The mailman put the box on top of a snow bank. So the box got wet and 2 of the books had water damage. One cookbook looked like the cover got cut with a knife, maybe a box cutter? I don't think I'll send them back, but I will send a note to Amazon about it.

market meeting done. They want to turn our market into some coorporation so they can get government grant money. I am very much opposed to that. Thankfully, they haven't got a free lawyer to help them do it yet....
There are no free lunches.
If you get .gov involved, I am pretty sure it will ruin the market.
We'll see. Also discussed the egg prices with some others selling eggs. We are going to go up to $6 a dz.
Did sell around $50 in lamb at the meeting, so it was worth it going.

No lambs

Fun butchering day with neighbor Kathy and her girls. Little granddaughter and the girls played, hung out, and kept the baby busy. We finished one tom turkey and 7 roosters, and Levi brought home 3 live roosters to his dad that needed some roosters. Could of done of few more, but eliminating 10 roosters from 2 coops has really helped with the rooster drama. Had a good lunch together and lots of visiting.

Got the utility/pantry area painted. Got rhubarb and strawberries planted and some seeds sewn (in trays). Then got the washer moved inside and hooked up. Wouldn’t ya know it? Leaks - contractors evidently loosened the valves when they were working 🙄. Got things fixed and did the first two loads of laundry since moving here. Wahoo! That’s a good thing, we were getting low on clean skivies 😂. Have another load ready for morning. Hubby finished up the flooring and began the trim. It’s starting to come together. Still don’t know where my bathroom towels are. I’ve been using Hubby’s. (We use different bathrooms). Little by little.

Well...it did snow all day .. yeah 😟
Good thing George pushed the snow with tractor off driveway
But I had to push snow off steps anyway

Coming up ...
A little 1.5 day not snowing then here we go again 🙄
So I guess snow will stop sometimes by May 2025

Besides..as usual quiet day
Except ..changed 8 cat litters this afternoon
I did shop vac and be on internet in between
And listening music not loud all day

Ate some fish and rigatoni with butter
Then Vanilla Iced Cream
Black Chai Tea and honey
*Fed & fresh water to everybody Cats and Dane Girl*

That was about my day 🥴

Tired tonight... didn't sleep good then got up extra early to go to the nursery in the big town. A friend reminded they had cabbages and onion sets in, said there'd be a line. There was no line! just 3 customers, I made 4. Also went to the fancy farmers market looking for the mushroom guy on a tip. Interesting development, might do business on herbs. We talked for an hour, interesting conversation. I'm going to be growing my own mushrooms soon regardless of any other business.

Made tinctures this afternoon, just watching tv tonight.

back to 14 degrees here yuck just yuck! Thankfully no lambs overnight. I sure hope this will be the very last really cold night!!

Today we are supposed to get our new puppy. I hope it works out and Rosie won't try to kill him....but she is so laid back and friendly, I doubt it. Now the goats, who knows how they will react to a new dog. But they are so used to dogs around hopefully ok. When we got Axel and Rose, out big herd queen Aspen then ( she is now gone, went to the auction when she got too old) headbutted the little guys right out of the barn at first and we were very worried. But they got used to each other soon. But this puppy is much older almost a year so we'll see how it goes.
The lady is also bringing me some tallow. They butchered a cow and had too much. I have not made any soap since we left Florida ( because no tallow ) but will try to make some soon. I wonder if lye goes bad.

Just ordered a new hydraulic hose for the log splitter, came to $88. Rewired the electric gate opener. Also ordered the mounting kit for the Starlink and extra cable. The Starlink seems to be working now. For some reason Starlink had us 35 miles away form our location. I updated our address and now it appears to work. I have service in the house for the first time ever.
How much does Starlink cost?

Right now I’m enjoying a cup of coffee in peace and quiet. Dad and dog are still sleeping. Planning on making French toast for breakfast. Debating if I feel brave enough to attempt the cellar stairs to grab some stuff out of the freezer. They are carpeted and for some reason that makes me nervous with the Neil Armstrong footwear I’m sporting since the unfortunate lamp accident.

Supposed to cold today so there’s definitely going to be a fire in the wood stove later.

Wow, weather is weird. So looks like we are not cold today, but possible light rain this evening. Already in the high 30's, I'll take that.
I've got outside chores till lunch then probably go into the bigger town and fill a cart at Aldi. Little granddaughter's mom is coming to visit this afternoon, so she's working on a chicken coop cleanout this morning.

I have three items to package for shipping on Monday, about 40lbs each on average. Same as last Sunday. Then Tuesday a buyer will pick up two items, might buy a third. Then.... I'm taking a little break from ebay. I'm seeing some effects on the market.... people are holding on to their money, not spending on things they don't need.

I didn't get the oil changed in the side by side yesterday. Got sick after dinner. Wife said she was trying to poison me. Maybe.
Anyway, I'll start draining the oil after chores this morning. We're getting low on some grocery items so we'll try driving my Jeep out tomorrow. I think it's been at least 3 weeks since we drove out of here. On Tuesday or Wednesday I need to take my truck down to pick up the new wood chipper.

It's getting warm enough here during the day (mid to upper 30's) that we're able to let the fire go out. I start it in the evening, stoke it up before bed, and again about 4 or 5 am and that's it. We have about 3/4 cord in the wood shed and about a cord buried under the snow waiting to be split. The firewood should last through May now.

I guess whatever crud I got was a short lived one..or maybe that the end of the sniffles thing I've been fighting the last 2 weeks.
But yesterday I started feeling better ..got more done than I thought I would. Hit bed early again and today I feel OK. A tad more tired than normal but I'll take it. Working my machine being sick is miserable so I'm grateful.
Deciding if I'll walk the pups up my muddy road or take them to town.
I really don't want to go anywhere..but I really don't want muddy paws everywhere either.
Today after the pup walk I'll maybe prune a tree or two..it's about that time..but nights are still getting cold so I might wait another week or two.
Other than that..I'm taking it easy today..I have a feeling they will ask me to come in extra early tomorrow..uggh..
