What's On Your Nightstand?
Being in the UK " alternatives" are required for home intrusions, so I have a baton, AK 47 Bayonet and a pistol crossbow in the bedroom, also """accidentally""" laying around the house are high powered cans of RAID Wasp & Hornet nest destroyer which make MACE and CS appear as powerful as fairy dust.

Kinda hard to fit a Mossberg 500 on my nightstand.

DUDE! How large are your rooms?Next to my night stand is a Rem 700 Tac in .300 Blackout.
I really like the carbine. I've been thinking about an AR for a while, I think I'll look at the hi points first.A Charter Target Bulldog in 44 Special used to be in my nightstand, but now it's tucked between the mattress and bedrail where I can reach it quicker.
But the revolver is only to give me time to get what's leaning against the nightstand - a Hi-Point Carbine in 45 ACP with a shotgun scope set to 1.5x and a PX2 Fury mounted in the front.
The carbine length barrel gets 300 fps more velocity than a pistol length barrel, so it launches 230 grain HP loads at 45 Colt energy levels. And the longer barrel dampens the muzzle blast considerably.
Yes I know the arguments about a light giving away your position and making you a target. But the PX2 Fury will absolutely blind anyone looking at it at night.
The .300 Blackout has a 16.5" bull barrel its a compact little sniper . Good car gun . Its big Brother is my Rem 700 XCR in .300 WM with 26" heavy barrel .DUDE! How large are your rooms?
Good point on the pistol and kids. Mine are all grown and gone, so my house is definately not child proof anymore..My night stand I have a knife, walkie talkies, flashlight and a hand crank weather radio- which isn't taking a charge- may have to order new battery-. Due to 16 month old son I keep pistol locked up where he can't get to it.

I really want to get the root cellar/shelter humidity situation fixed soon as it is a great place to store stuff. It's eight inches of concrete, making it fire proof, earthquake resistant, and pretty secure all around. That old saying of don't put all you eggs in one basket comes to mind here. Really good advice to have more than one location for some of your necessities. Not saying any one here sleeps buck naked but, a friend had to take blankets to a man and a wife, after their home caught fire, they literally had nothing left, everything gone in about one hour. What is on the night stand and in and on the pants close by, is very important, but have something extra somewhere outside the house as well, a hollow post in the garden wich holds up the bird feeder or something else.
i keep the clothes i'll be wearing the next day, next to my bed.so all i have to do.is sit up.and start getting dressed.which is great for when i decide getting dressed in the dark, time 2 time..
Years ago late one night I heard a noise out in the barn so I went to investigate, wearing only a hat. It was winter so there was several feet of snow on the ground. What a surprise when the noise turned out to be my teenage son, who was supposed to be away for the weekend, and a bunch of his friends. They all got to see much more of me in their flashlight beam than any of them ever wanted to see. I learned to keep my pants close by, and to put something on when going outside at night. If my house is burning down, nudity will be the absolute least of my worries (though my nudity may cause others to worry, lol)....but I really won't give a damn. I'd be too busy trying to make sure all are safe to worry about being naked. Though, I usually keep a robe right by the bed, mostly out of consideration for others in the household who probably don't want to see me naked (like the stepkids)
