And what is taxed and what is exempt........???
Went up to 6% here a couple years ago from 5%. I don't know if anything is exempt. Fortunately for us I have tax exempt forms on file for several businesses around here, due to the ranch. Also we're only a hundred miles or so from a no sales tax state. So in reality we pay very little sales tax.And what is taxed and what is exempt........???
Interesting (and narrowly focused) exemption.7%
Food exempted. Food that can't be consumed on the spot like chips, candy bars and restaurants.

Ben is in the next County over from me which IIRC imposes a 1% sales tax on top of the State's tax..7%

6% in my County
As @Neb stated, prepared and snack foods are not exempt. Groceries, medications and most clothing items are not subject to sales tax.
Yes they do. Every site I buy from charges sales tax.I see now most mail order companies charge sales tax too.
I can understand that, but I never buy anything that I don't need.I prefer sales tax over income or property taxes.
Sales tax is up to me on things I WANT not what I need.

@Neb In our State - I've been searching to see if it's still an option (can't find it yet) but a couple decades ago as I recall, if you paid (and can prove) you paid sales tax in excess of what you owed in income tax, they accepted your sales tax as payment enough and you didn't owe income taxes.I prefer sales tax over income or property taxes.

We itemize and use a professional tax prep team. I will mention it but suspect we are paying only what we need pay.@Neb In our State - I've been searching to see if it's still an option (can't find it yet) but a couple decades ago as I recall, if you paid (and can prove) you paid sales tax in excess of what you owed in income tax, they accepted your sales tax as payment enough and you didn't owe income taxes.
