He lacks a mentor. I feel pity for him, and some compassion. It used to be that a man passed on his skills, and his knowledge, to his children or even an apprentice if the man was in a skilled trade.
I know the old guys at the Steel Mill were not kind to me, but I ended up making a lot of money travelling around the country welding, because they were harsh and wouldn't let me get away with poor quality work.
Useful skills used to be passed from generation to generation, man to man, woman to woman. I don't see that so much anymore, my generation, X, dropped the ball somehow. One of my sons wants to know how to do things, he is easy to teach because he cares to learn. The other son, not so much, and it is difficult to get him interested, its a real challenge.
Where is the grown man to smack that kid upside his head, and tell him he looks a fool? Maybe this stuff happens because as a society we aren't allowed to be "cruel" anymore. No one able or willing to say "Hey *******, put down the limb saw spear and have a beer and listen to what I'm telling you. It's simple, and it could save your life and maybe your Mom's." Or maybe someone is trying to do that, and the kid isn't listening.
My Dad had no patience, None Whatsoever, and I learned nothing from him. To this day I don't even know if he had anything to teach! Maybe I should ask him before its too late? I don't know.
My friends Dad taught a bunch of us kids everything, how to farm, how to garden, how to make maple syrup and shoot guns and drive tractors and work on cars. He would watch you make mistakes and break stuff and he never got mad, or TOOK TOOLS OUT OF OUR HANDS. If you got hurt, well suck it up, you will know better next time. He has passed recently, and he is sorely missed. He openly spoke to us, even as kids, that it was naturally his job to teach us, but it was never arrogant. He drank a lot, lol, and had a bit of a criminal history, but good or bad I learned a lot from him.
This kid in the first video lacks that in his life. It's a shame, really. He obviously wants to be something.
