don't you have any heating where you live?

My house doesn't hold heat. Neighbours' houses do; over the road does; but not mine. Fully insulated the loft a few years back: no difference. Carpets with thermal underlay: no difference. Thick curtains and other draught-proofing: no difference. New boiler and radiators: no difference. It's ley lines, I tell you! I'm used to it, now, and will probably overheat at my friends' houses.

yeah, wife has studied ley lines she's into all that.
we have a cast iron ESSE stove, its electric because the house is all electric, but its the only heat we need most times, we have a convector heater in the hall but only use that when its really cold.
we are only a few miles from Dartmoor and that's the direction our weather comes from, the sun has to come over the moors before it gets to us, the house faces East so we get the rising sun.

It's suppose to get down to anywhere between 42 and 28 the next few nights.with rain in the forecast for Sunday and monday.with 28f for tuesday morning.guess i'll be doing my share of cooking those days.for the extra heat.just to keep the heating cost down.at least somewhat.

Got up at 5 am this morning to break the ice on the pond for the cattle. Normally I drive the 4 wheeler out in a shallow area until the ice breaks. But today the ice was a little too thick so I had to jump on the ice until it broke. Then we drove 8 hours north to visit the kids and grandbabies. Got 3 inches of snow tonight so far. When we get home tomorrow night I'll use the Jeep to break the ice.

It's definitely Winter where you are.
On Tuesday we may have flurries And the temp 19°. That's cold for Tennessee

I am down here complaining about - high of 40 degrees. Some friends of mine went camping this weekend... umm no thanks! Not unless I can camp at the Holiday Inn

My lawn guy and a church group were scheduled for a camping trip this weekend. With it in the 20s they cancelled. That's just too cold to be out in the woods. I don't care how good the down sleeping bag is.

We still under heavy fog, damn near need an umbrella to go outside, visibility probably 30yrds if that.

It's been cold. Not having heat, aside from a small space heater (desk top sized) that has to point at the pipes, has been taxing.

I'm sick, and that isn't helping. Hot showers are great, 37 degrees in the bathroom isn't.

I'm looking at it as a training exercise. I could order a new regulator right now, but I'm holding off. The pipes aren't going to freeze, and I can handle it. But I feel tired, working outside wet and windy and cold, then still cold inside...

Still, not a bad winter so far. And I'm saving on Nat Gas, lol.

It has been cold, wet and nasty out for the last week. Tomorrow will be the last day to be in the 30s so that will be nice. Even though we had the wood stove going in the bedroom I wanted to knock off the chill in the main part of the house so started my morning with baking hunny some Cowboy Cookies, which is his favorite and yesterday was his birthday. Unscrewed the lights in the oven and left that sucker wide open along with starting a fire in the fireplace. It helps knock down the chill with the blower on but nothing comparable to a wood stove. Then started canning some chicken broth that I had in the fridge from 10 lbs chicken I boiled up at 29 cents a lb. Couldn't pass that up and we got 40 lbs this week. 10 lbs boiled. another 10 minus 4 quarters for gumbo. 4 quarters plus another 20 lbs frozen. Hunny was talking about adding in a second wood stove which would be great. He wants to add it in front of the current fireplace, which would limit my furniture placement in the living room even more than I already have and we are already rather small. My solution was get rid of the big ass tv he just purchased along with the antique dresser he put in on and we put it in the corner of the living room. That way I can still get behind it and clean the floor and windows in the corner of the room without having to heave and hoe, then try to maneuver myself in odd spaces . . . oh wishful thinking on my part. I was happy when the big screen went out and he downsized with the backup out of the RV. . . . Anyway, I am currently hauling wood for only one now and I got the stove in the bedroom. Hunny's watch is on the fireplace in the living room which uses three times the wood.
