But I really do have a hard time imagining there is a method to this madness....even while I must acknowledge that I don't know what I don't know. Russians are so alien I can't really guess their motives.

If I had to put money on, i'd guess he is just trying to run out the clock, hoping the US has another economic collapse and gives up, while trying to look 'cool' to his friends in the mean time.

The deep state , which is international not just corrupt politicians in the U.S. are desperately trying to get a big scale war going before January 20th . . At this point I have lost count of the long range missile attacks that have been conducted from Ukraine soil to attack deep inside Russia . It is more likely to increase in frequency than subside as they seek the wanted attack results from Russia . -- This forum " homestead and country living " those that fit that slot have a much better chance to survive what may be our near future than those that don't posses the ability to regenerate their food supply . -- Whether homesteaders presently consider themselves preppers or not , they have the ability to quickly convert to the prepper fold .

Bear in mind that the targeting Intel for these longer range strikes comes from the US and NATO satellites.......so the West will be picking the targets.

Plus, does any rational person believe that Ukranians have the expertise to all of a sudden use missiles that we just gave them??
I'd bet my bottom dollar America has boots on the ground there, not only Special Forces advising their military ground forces, but also Air Force personnel in control of those missiles.

What we have here is the US directly striking Russia.
Putin is not stupid, he realizes this too.

It was widely reported two days ago (NY Post among others) that a 1,000 page German document was released showing plans to mobilize 800,000 NATO troops in response to Ukraine being given the go-ahead to use US missiles against Russia.

The average American has no clue how close we are to actual WWIII and nuclear war. There is BIG STUFF going on.

I get daily emails from Military.com, the Army Times, and Military Times. It pays to know what is going on when it comes to US defense and all that goes along with that.

I see this girl reporting from Ukraine a lot, she seems to have a steady manner most of the time. We are not in the UK, but close enough - and Russian subs are always off our coast. Not too worried other than them damaging our cables or poisoning the sea.

Sure, I was just meaning in the sense of Russia vs The West.

The argument being that Nato started the war by 'encroaching' on countries near Russia.....making them feel so threatened they had to go to war.

But this is disingenuous as although Russia has both threatened, and perpetrated ACTUAL conquest of territory, Nato, never has presented a similar threat.

What matters from a prepper / survivalist perspective is preparations and the ability to survive at a personal level , No matter whom the victor , no matter whom started it , the bottom equation is personal survival for self and dependents . -- On a government or military level then the thinking process of war is different . But on a civilian prepper level that is a different animal .

Every Ukrainian grew up hearing stories from grandma and grandpa about what life was like under the Russians.

The Ukrainians are fighting about as hard as the Israelis would, if they were being invaded by the Germans.

The Russians are not bad people.....but in the really big wars, the enemy seldom are......

The Russian leadership subjects their population to life-long propaganda that the people of the West are the enemy.

When a war comes along, they will try to kill us.

People in the West need to come to terms with the fact that, when that war comes, the only way you will stop them doing that is to kill them first.

If you want to blame anyone for all that....blame Putin.

The Russia of today is a Kleptocracy......Putin is a nationalist......but he has run his Russia for the benefit of himself and a very small minority of oligarchs......not for the vast majority of Russians.

Their situation is little better now than in soviet times.....and he has told them to blame the West for all that.

Propaganda is a useful weapon for those that are the underdog in material capabilities.

Ukraine was part of Russia pre 1914. Some of the inhabitants still want to be. The same in Georgia and a few other former Soviet states. This issue of independence rumbles on constantly, but Ukraine is worth something to the rest of the world, ie NATO which is why we are paying attention. The only time countries get involved is when it's in their best interests. Nobody gives a toss otherwise. Everyone knew what Stalin was doing- the way as they know what any dictator does; but they only act when they can benefit.
