And those are in 1977 dollars. A perspective:
$229 was an entire week's take-home pay for many of us blue-collar workers back then .

I ordered a soda with my lunch and they charged me $3.95 for a fountain Pepsi.
I had a sandwich, fries, and a drink, and my wife had pasta, no drink. Lunch cost $40.
Lunch for 2 people should not cost $40 I don't care what you order. I won't be going back there.
I can remember 24 cent burgers, a nickel more for cheese, in 1969 at a place called Cow Corner.

Going out for lunch has gotten ridiculous. The only place around here that is still a good deal is the amish restaurant. Usually about $6 for a lunch plate.

@phideaux that Woolworth menu reminds me of my sister. She worked at a Woolworth diner in the early 70s.
@WVDragonlady my mom used to make rice a roni. I even remember the jingle. rice a roni a san francisco treat. rice a roni the flavor can't be beat.

I like rice a roni. Add some shredded chicken to it.

I make a whole stove top meal from them. I'll add meat and veggies and just add just a little bit more water to help cook them.
Been doing it for years. Its how I got my daughter to eat spam lol
